Joao Felix Transfer News & Odds

23-year-old Portugal international Joao Felix will be subject to a lot of interest in the January transfer window, with it being known that the ex-Benfica man is keen for a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano.

Felix has managed three goals and three assists in just 510 minutes of La Liga action this campaign, showing how potent the Portuguese striker can be when utilised correctly having often been hampered by Diego Simeone’s defensive style of football.

In the summer of 2019, Felix joined Atletico for a staggering £113m fee from Benfica following 20 goals and 11 assists in 43 matches for the Liga NOS outfit, before going on to score 33 and assist 18 times in 129 games for his current side.

Aston Villa 12/1

Manchester United Odds: 2/1

Manchester United are the bookmakers’ favourite to sign Joao Felix at present, as the Old Trafford club are cash-strapped, hence why the Glazer family have put the club up for sale.

According to reputable sources such as The Athletic, United will only be able to make loan signings in January, with the club expected to be sold in the first quarter of 2023. Reports have suggested that Felix will be available for a loan fee plus his wages, meaning that this would be ideal for the Old Trafford club.

Following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, United have a spare space up-front in their squad, while reports have said that they are looking for a versatile forward that can play across the front three, effectively fitting the description of Felix.

Chelsea Odds: 3/1

Chelsea have also been rumoured to be interested in Felix, with owner Todd Boehly looking to further strengthen his goal-shy squad.

The Stamford Bridge club have only managed to score 19 goals in 15 matches which is the worst record of any side in the top half of the Premier League. This is something that will have to change if Chelsea are going to finish in the Champions League qualification places ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

With Felix being a versatile forward, as well as a good chance creator, he would likely fit the profile that Chelsea are looking for when deploying a 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 formation.

Chelsea are priced at 3/1 to sign Felix in January.

Arsenal Odds: 8/1

Arsenal will also be in the market to strengthen their squad, as the Gunners are going for their first Premier League title since the 2003/04 campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s side are currently five points ahead of current champions Manchester City, but, will be without Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus for an extended period of time. The 25-year-old has been a superb addition for the Gunners this season, having scored five and created six assists in 20 matches.

Felix could be an ideal replacement due to being a good goalscorer and chance creator for teammates. On top of this, it would likely be a loan deal meaning that the fee wouldn’t cut into the Gunners' summer transfer plans if they look to invest heavily once again.

Arsenal are priced at 8/1 to sign Felix from Atletico.

Aston Villa Odds: 12/1

Aston Villa were said to be the favourites to sign Felix at one point, however, they may have fallen down the pecking order slightly due to the high demand for the 23-year-old.

Unai Emery will know the player’s profile well from his time in La Liga as coach of Villarreal and may look to sign Felix on loan to utilize him as a second striker, as the Villains look to add firepower to a squad that has scored 17 goals in 16 league games.

Although this would be a shock move, Philippe Coutinho looks like he could be off to Brazilian side Corinthians, meaning that the Villains would have room and wages freed up in their squad.

Felix is priced at 12/1 to make a shock move to Villa Park.
