Moises Caicedo Transfer News & Odds

Moises Caicedo Transfer News & Odds

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo has been heavily linked with moves away from the Amex Stadium following some impressive showings for the Seagulls since joining them in February 2021.

The 21-year-old joined the Premier League outfit for around £4.5m from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle and has slotted into Brighton’s midfield in great fashion, effectively replacing Yves Bissouma who has since moved on to Tottenham Hotspur.

Caicedo has already made a total of 28 appearances for his national team, Ecuador, and featured at the 2022 World Cup at the heart of their midfield, further solidifying his place as one of the hottest prospects in world football.

Rumours have suggested that Brighton would be looking for a huge profit on Caicedo, with it expected that the Seagulls will want in the range of £65-£80m having recently seen the sales of Ben White and Marc Cucurella for £50m and £62m to Arsenal and Chelsea in recent transfer windows.

Liverpool Odds: 2/1

Liverpool are known to be a big admirer of Caicedo’s talent and could make a move for the Ecuadorian having had a series of issues with their midfield throughout the first half of the season.

The Anfield club have already splashed out in the January window on highly-rated Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, acquiring his services from PSV Eindhoven and will be determined to make further moves in the window in order to enhance their chances of moving up the Premier League table, as Jurgen Klopp’s men sit sixth in the standings.

With the likes of James Milner in the final year of his contract and set to turn 37 years old on 4th January, as well as the fact that Jordan Henderson will be 33 years of age by the start of next season, there is a need to freshen up a midfield that has played such a vital role in the re-birth of Liverpool under Klopp. On top of this, the likes of Arthur has made just two appearances since joining on loan from Juventus.

Chelsea Odds: 5/1

Inevitably, Chelsea are interested in Caicedo, having taken several members of staff from the Seagulls in the last six months, including the likes of Graham Potter and Cucurella.

With N’Golo Kante being in the last year of his contract at 31 years old, on top of the fact that Jorginho’s contract also expires in the summer, perhaps Caicedo could be a natural replacement for the former, while also giving Chelsea a more energetic option than Jorginho, something which is crucial in Potter’s playstyle.

When looking at the way that Todd Boehly has operated transfer strategy-wise since becoming owner of the club, no transfer can be ruled out having seen him take a scattergun approach as far.

Chelsea are priced at 5/1 to sign Caicedo from Brighton.
