Sebastien Haller Transfer News & Odds

27-year-old Ivory Coast international Sebastien Haller looks like he could leave Ajax this summer following recent news that Erik ten Hag will be leaving the Amsterdam club for Manchester United.

The former West Ham United and Eintracht Frankfurt forward has put himself in the shop window with a series of high-quality performances for Ajax this season, having scored 33 goals and created nine assists in 39 matches. With 11 of these coming in eight Champions League matches.

Haller was initially signed for around £18.8m and has reportedly had a £35m price tag put on him.

Manchester United Odds: 6/1

With ten Hag’s arrival being announced by United, there is expected to be an exodus of players from Ajax, of which Haller could be one of them having been linked with United, alongside teammates Jurrien Timber and Antony.

Haller is a clear favourite of ten Hag’s, having managed the 27-year-old at both Utrecht and Ajax. As well as this, United are in need of a striker due to Cristiano Ronaldo being 37-years-old, whilst there is much speculation about Anthony Martial’s future on top of Edinson Cavani’s contract expiring in the summer.

With United’s transfer budget rumoured to be around £150m, plus any money generated from sales, a move for Haller ultimately wouldn’t set them back too much, as their priority will ultimately be fixing their leaky defence and unbalanced midfield setup.

Arsenal Odds: 12/1

Arsenal are also in the market for a new striker, having not replaced Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang since his move to Barcelona in January.

Mikel Arteta’s side are without an in-contract striker for the 2022/23 season as things stand, as both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’s deals run out this summer, with the latter looking more likely to stay than the former.

Haller would provide the Gunners with a good physical presence in the penalty area, as well as a forward with good link-up play via his ball control and ball-playing skills, which is something that will be vital for Arteta when profiling his next forward.

Arsenal are the lowest scorers in the top six at present, with just 52 goals in 33 games, a mere 33 behind top scorers Liverpool - this is an issue that will need to be addressed in the near future if they are to build something special at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are priced at 12/1 to sign Haller from Ajax in the summer.

Chelsea Odds: 12/1

The final club on this list of sides interested in Haller is Chelsea who are undoubtedly looking for a new forward upon the shortcomings of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku.

Werner has managed to score 11 across all competitions, whilst Lukaku is just one goal better off despite transferring from Inter Milan for a staggering £100m last summer.

Notably, neither of these players particularly specialises in link-up play which is vital in Chelsea’s 3-4-3 system, something which Haller offers, and having previously had Premier League experience with West Ham between 2019 and 2021, where he scored 10 goals in 48 appearances, he will be desperate to showcase his true abilities.

With there being uncertainty over who Chelsea’s next owner will be, an astute transfer fee of £35m for Haller could be a good move for both parties.

Haller is priced at 12/1 to join Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window.
