Darwin Nunez joined Liverpool from Benfica this summer for a base fee of £64 million, subject to up to £20 million in add-ons, and could make his Premier League debut for The Reds in their game against Fulham.
In the 2021/22 season Nunez, while playing for Benfica, scored 26 goals in 28 games, making him the overall top scorer in the Primeira Liga in only his second season with the club. Along with this the Uruguayan registered four assists in the Primeira Liga.
Nunez is a player to watch this season, with a goal every 76 minutes in Portugal, an average of 1.18 goals per game and a 38% goal conversion rate. The Uruguayan also had an impressive 2021/22 Champions League before being knocked out by new club. Nunez scored six times in his ten appearances, including two against Liverpool.
A goal against Manchester City in Liverpool’s 3 - 1 in the Community Shield win showed that Nunez could be a big deal in the Premier League, leading to a lot of excitement for his potential debut this weekend.
