5 Transfers That Could Still Happen

Cody Gakpo has been linked with a move to Southampton of late and following Manchester United’s move for Antony, Ralph Hassenhuttl’s men have moved in as firm favourites for the Dutchman.

The 23-year-old has 10 goal contributions in eight matches so far this season and could add some much-needed flair to Southampton’s strike force which scored just 43 goals last season.

In recent weeks, Chelsea have seemingly been desperate to sign Anthony Gordon from Everton and have met some resistance from the Toffees.

However, since Todd Boehly has become the owner of the club, they have tended to chase their targets right till the end, as they have done with Leicester City centre-back Wesley Fofana.

Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with the Belgian, although it looks like the latter may have finished their transfer business after their recent splurge on Antony, Casemiro and Martin Dubravka.

Undoubtedly, Tielemans would improve Arsenal, and having seen the Gunners make such a strong start to the Premier League season, they currently look like an attractive side to join. The Gunners certainly could do with a deep-lying playmaker to go alongside Thomas Partey at the heart of their midfield.

With Gordon potentially on his way out of Everton, room could potentially be made for Blackburn forward Ben Brereton Diaz who is entering the final year of his contract at Ewood Park.

Brereton Diaz who has 14 caps for Chile could be available for as little as £15m which would see the Toffees make a quick profit if they are to force a deal through. The 23-year-old has scored two goals and created one assist so far this season on top of the 25 goal contributions that he managed last campaign.

The final player on this list is Ross Barkley who was recently released from his contract at Chelsea, meaning that he is now a free agent.

Barkley, who is 28 years of age made 100 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 12 times and creating 11 assists. It looks as though links with the ex-Blues man making a return to Everton have cooled down, especially after fans of the Toffees weren’t keen on seeing their former academy product re-sign for the club.

Last season, Rangers took the likes of Aaron Ramsey on loan, and rumours have it that they are seriously considering a move for Barkley. The Ibrox club could offer the Englishman Champions League football and the chance to compete for trophies on a regular basis which would be attractive to a player who featured in just 422 minutes of first-team football last season.
