AFC Bournemouth vs Sheffield United: Betting Tips, Match Prediction & Preview

Sheffield United make the visit to the coast and to the Vitality Stadium to take on Bournemouth this Saturday in the Premier League. Both sides sit in the bottom half of the table and need a big three points this season.

The relegation zone is heating up and Sheffield United needs a big win to try and reel in Burnley and Luton. Bournemouth sit a bit above the relegation zone and will be aiming to look up rather than down towards the drop zone.

Bournemouth currently sit 13th in the Premier League after 26 games. The Cherries have eight wins, seven draws and 11 losses, leaving them on 31 points, only eight points above the relegation zone.

The Cherries have been underwhelming in front of goal, relying heavily on Dominic Solanke for the goals. In 25 games, Bournemouth have scored 33 goals, giving them an average of 1.32 goals a game. Bournemouth have been better defensively, conceding 47 goals and keeping five clean sheets.

Sheffield United, on the other hand, currently sit bottom of the Premier League. In 27 games, The Blades have three wins, four draws and 20 losses which leaves them on 13 points, equal with Burnley but 11 points from safety.

The Blades have the worst scoring record in the league, scoring just 22 goals, an average of 0.74 goals a game. It has been even worse at the other end of the pitch with Sheffield United conceding 72 goals and keeping just one clean sheet.

Bournemouth and Sheffield United have met just 20 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming back in 1981. The Blades have the better record in the fixture with 11 wins in comparison to Bournemouth’s three wins. In fact, a draw is more common than a Cherries win, happening on six occasions.

In the last five games in this fixture has seen two Bournemouth wins, a draw and one Sheffield United win. Though this fixture does usually see both sides on the scoresheet, this is unlikely to be replicated this weekend with Sheffield United’s scoring record this season.

          Recent Form

In their last five games in all competitions, Bournemouth have one win, one draw and three losses.

The trip to Craven Cottage saw Bobby De Cordova-Reid open the scoring early and Rodrigo Muniz doubled Fulham’s lead before halftime. Marcos Senesi got Bournemouth on the scoresheet early in the second half, but Muniz scored just two minutes later to secure the 3 - 1 win for Fulham.

Solanke gave Bournemouth the lead early in the second half against Newcastle, but a penalty from Anthony Gordon drew Newcastle level within seven minutes. Antoine Semenyo regained the lead for Bournemouth but Matt Ritchie popped up with a goal in the 92nd minute to grab a 2 - 2 draw for Newcastle.

Phil Foden scored the only goal of the game for Manchester City in the 24th minute, giving City the 1 - 0 win over Bournemouth, who couldn’t convert any of their four shots on target.

In the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, Bournemouth hosted Championship Leicester. Despite having 27 shots with four shots on target, Bournemouth were unable to find the back of the net. However, neither could Leicester as the tie was sent to extra time. Abdul Fatawu scored the only goal of the game in the first half of extra time to give The Foxes the 1 - 0 win.

The last time out for Bournemouth was against Burnley. Justin Kluivert opened the scoring for Bournemouth and Semenyo secured the 2 - 0 win with a late goal.

In their last six games in all competitions, Sheffield United have one win and five losses.

Diaz opened the scoring for Sheffield United in the first minute but Eberechi Eze equalised within 15 minutes. James McAtee regained the lead for The Blades but another goal from Eze made it level at halftime. However, Michael Olise scored in the second half to give Crystal Palace the 3 - 2 win.

The visit from Aston Villa saw John McGinn, Ollie Watkins, Leon Bailey and Youri Tielemans all score in the first half to give them the 4 - 0 lead at halftime. Alex Moreno scored early in the second half as well to secure the 5 - 0 win for Aston Villa.

Sheffield United bounced back against Luton. A goal from Archer and a penalty from McAtee gave The Blades the 2 - 0 lead at halftime. A penalty from Carlton Morris got Luton on the scoresheet early in the second half, but a goal from Vinicius Souza gave The Blades the 3 - 1 win.

However, the next time out saw another defeat for Sheffield United against Brighton. The early red card to Holgate opened the floodgates and both Facundo Buonanotte and Danny Welbeck scored to give Brighton the 2 - 0 lead at halftime. An own goal from Jack Robinson and a brace from Simon Adingra gave Brighton the 5 - 0 win.

The most recent outing for Sheffield United was against Wolves. Pablo Sarabia scored the only goal of the game in the 30th minute to give Wolves the 1 - 0 win.

Sheffield United suffered a humiliating 6-0 home defeat to Arsenal on Monday with Mikel Arteta's men racing into a 5-0 lead at half time thanks to goals by Martin Odegaard, Jayden Bogle (own goal), Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz and Declan Rice, before Ben White capped off the scoring in the 58th-minute.
