Brentford vs Leicester Prediction

All signs point towards a Brentford win over a Leicester City side who may still be managerless at the weekend. Brentford have been magnificent at home, with five wins and a draw from six, and they possess the best home record in the league. The Bees' attacking output is rather incredible as they have averaged at least three goals per game on home soil.

Leicester City's recent form has led the club to dismiss Steve Cooper, as the Foxes are winless in their previous five and are without a clean sheet in six. Defensively they have been poor, having conceded first in each of their last six. We expect their woes to continue - Brentford 3-0 Leicester

Brentford vs Leicester: Preview & Prediction

Brentford welcome Leicester City to West London as they face off in the Premier League, with both teams looking to respond to dropped points last weekend.

Date: 30/11/24

Kick-off time: 15:00

Venue: Gtech Community Stadium

The hosts are in 11th place following a goalless draw at Everton. It has been a solid start to the season for Brentford with five wins in their opening 12 games giving them 17 points. Despite their position in mid-table, they are just five points behind the top four. The table is very congested, particularly in the top half, but a victory this weekend will ensure the Bees keep pace with those above them.

After recording back-to-back victories against Bournemouth and Southampton in October, Leicester are winless in four, which includes three defeats. It is a run of form which has cost manager Steve Cooper his job. They are two places above the relegation zone, two points clear of 18th place Crystal Palace. It is concerning form which has them nervously looking over their shoulder. Another loss could drop them into the bottom three and plunge them into deeper trouble.

Thomas Frank’s side will be expected to take home three points in this game. The Bees have had a lot of success in front of goal this season, scoring 22 goals. Only Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea have scored more in the league. A lot of this joy is down to the partnership between Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, who have combined for 15 so far. Against a Leicester side who have conceded the third-most goals in the league and not kept a clean sheet in their last six, they should be confident in adding to their tallies.

However, the Foxes have scored in all but one of their Premier League fixtures this season, meaning goals for both sides could be on the cards. They were handed a huge boost last weekend as Patson Daka made his first appearance of the season following an ankle injury. Jamie Vardy currently leads the team with four goals, followed by Facundo Buonanotte with three, who has also emerged as a key contributor.

These two teams have met six times in all competitions since 2020, with Leicester the superior team. The Foxes are currently unbeaten in 12 games against their opponents, though this dates back to 1953. The last two games between the pair ended in draws, with a 1-1 result at the Gtech Community Stadium. Leicester had won five consecutive games beforehand.

Team News

Brentford

Christian Norgaard will miss the game after receiving a red card against Everton, though the club will appeal the decision. Gustavo Nunes could be available for the first time after suffering with a back injury. Kristoffer Ajer may also be set for a return.

Leicester

Leicester have some injuries to contend with. Abdul Fatawu has suffered an ACL injury which will rule him out for the season. Harry Winks was substituted with a knee injury last weekend with his availability yet to be determined. Facundo Buonanotte is eligible to return after serving a one-game suspension for picking up five yellow cards.

Form Guide

Brentford:

In their last five games, Brentford have won two, drawn two and lost one. It has been a solid stretch for Brentford as they have climbed the table. This run started with a dramatic 4-3 victory over Ipswich. They fell 2-0 behind before a quick-fire brace from Yoanne Wissa levelled it up on the stroke of half-time. The Bees took their first lead shortly after the restart but conceded late on. Bryan Mbuemo scored the winner in the 96th minute.

EFL Cup action saw them advance on penalties against Sheffield Wednesday. The game finished 1-1 after Kevin Schade’s opener was cancelled out. Brentford won 5-4 on spot-kicks. They were unable to continue this momentum in their next game at Fulham. They lost 2-1 to their West London neighbours in heart-breaking fashion. After taking the lead in the first half, Harry Wilson scored a brace in stoppage time to steal all three points.

Brentford returned to winning ways with a 3-2 win over Bournemouth. The Cherries took the lead twice, before the hosts scored the winning goal through Wissa. Their most recent game was a trip to Everton, in which they were held to a goalless draw. It was the hosts who were the better side with more possession and attempts, but neither side could find a breakthrough.

Leicester:

In their last five games, Leicester have drawn one and lost four. It has been a tough return to life in the Premier League for the Foxes, and this run started with a 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest. Jamie Vardy had cancelled out an early opener, but a Chris Wood brace shifted the game in the visitors’ favour. They then played a fourth round EFL Cup tie at Old Trafford against Man United, in which they lost 5-2 and were eliminated. Bilal El Khannouss and Conor Coady were their goalscorers.

Fellow relegation candidates Ipswich were their next opponents, and they came away with a point in a 1-1 draw. Leif Davis scored the opener for the hosts, before Kalvin Phillips saw red. The Foxes took advantage of the extra man and found the equaliser at the death through Jordan Ayew.

Their last game before the international break was another meeting with Man United, this time in the league. They lost 3-0 with strikes coming from Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho in addition to an own goal. Last time out they hosted Chelsea at the King Power Stadium. They lost 2-1, with a consolation from Ayew coming too late to threaten a comeback.
