Prior to the hosts 2-2 draw with Ponferradina, Eibar had won three of their last four league games, defeating Girona and Amorbieta by 1-0 scorelines, as well as Burgo 2-0.

Meanwhile, Lugo have drawn three of their last four games after their 1-0 defeat to Huesca, drawing 2-2, 3-3 and 1-1 with Las Palmas, Almeria and Real Oviedo, with their other result being a 1-0 victory over Alcorcon.
