Carlos Alcaraz will be a red-hot 8/5 favourite to retain the Men's US Open title in the absence of Jannik Sinner. However, the fact that the Spaniard has missed the last four months of the season due to injury can't be overlooked.

Therefore, Flavio Cobolli could be an interesting angle at an each-way price. The Italian has achieved career-best showings at Wimbledon and the French Open in 2026, reaching a first Grand Slam final in the latter.

The 24-year-old has already shown his prowess on hard courts this season, reaching the final four at the Cincinnati Masters and also looking at home in New York in the Mixed Doubles after reaching the final alongside Belinda Bencic.

Cobolli has been drawn in the top half of the US Open, meaning that he will avoid a potential showdown against Alcaraz until the final, and the highest seed he could face will come in the semi-finals against Alexander Zverev, a player he has beaten in one of three matchups in 2026.

At massive odds, Frances Tiafoe could be worth an each-way bet at 66/1. The American will bring momentum into the US Open this year after reaching the final at the Cincinnati Masters earlier this month.

Tiafoe has twice reached the US Open semi-finals (2022 & 2024) and reached the quarterfinals in 2023. In addition to reaching the final in Cincinnati, the American also reached the quarterfinals on the hard court at the Miami Open.

It's also worth noting that this is Tiafoe's preferred major, winning 69% of his matches at the US Open.

Aryna Sabalenka has been the dominant force in the Women's US Open, winning each of the last two editions. Therefore, it's unsurprising that she is a 10/3 chance to retain the Grand Slam in 2026. However, the trend of first-time Grand Slam winners at Wimbledon and the French Open could continue in New York.

Amanda Anisimova typically saves her best showings for the hard court majors, reaching the US Open Final in 2025, and progressing to the quarterfinal stage of the Australian Open earlier this year.

Her reliable record on hard courts is also reflected in her reaching the semi-finals at the Dubai Championships and the last eight of the recent Cincinnati Masters.

It only enhances her chances, as she has been drawn in the bottom half of the draw, ensuring that a potential showdown with Sabalenka can't be set until at least the final.

Three of the last five women's Grand Slam winners have started the tournament at odds exceeding 10/1. Therefore, it is worth taking a chance on a dark horse contender.

Marie Bouzkova typically outperforms her odds at the majors, and her recent form is reliable after reaching the last 16 at the Cincinnati Masters. It is also notable that players from Czechia have won three of the last 13 majors.

Bouzkova has reached at least the third round in each of the last two Grand Slams, and her game is tailored to a hard surface after previously reaching the semi-finals at the Canadian Open and the quarterfinals at the Cincinnati Masters.

Like Anisimova, she is drawn in the bottom half, meaning avoiding Sabalenka could ensure a deeper run at the US Open.

The main draw at the 2026 US Open gets underway on Sunday, 30th August, with the women's and men's finals set for September 11 and 12, respectively.
