Every week we seem to be having the same conversation about Lionel Messi and discussing just whether or not he is the greatest player of all time. The Barcelona forward is absolutely sublime with the ball at his feet and he's just a joy to watch for us as spectators, but we kinda feel that opposition defenders don't feel the same. Messi has humiliated some of the best defenders in world football during his career and after signing another extension with Barcelona that isn't going to slow down anytime soon. This weekend he was in action for the Catalonian's in Madrid, taking on Atletico in their fantastic new home at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Barca knew as long as they avoided defeat they'd stay at the top of La Liga and they did exactly that, securing a draw courtesy of a last gasp effort from substitute Ousmane Dembele. It was a good result for Ernesto Valverde's men against an extremely strong Atletico side but Messi's antics on the pitch is what really caught our attention, with the Argentine pulling off an unbelievable piece of skill to beat full-back Filipe Luis.
The fall coming down from the air after he headed it and he then managed to pull off a back heeled nutmeg to beat the Brazilian and break down the right flank. We can safely say that we've never seen anything like it and one fan at the Wanda Metropolitano managed to captured it perfectly from the stands. jlaws91's video allows you to appreciate the greatness of the Barca no.10 and see just how tough he is to stop - watch it below:
