It's expected that press conferences will focus on the upcoming match, player injuries, and any other factors that could affect the outcome of the fixture. Although all of these topics were covered in Tottenham Hotspur's pre-match conference before they hosted Cardiff City in the Premier League on Saturday, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino also found time to wish his assistant manager a happy birthday.
While it might not seem like such a strange gesture, Pochettino chose to play a version of 'Happy Birthday To You' on his phone, so assistant Jesus Perez could hear it, as well as the room full of onlooking journalists and club officials. There's no doubting the pride and sincerity in Poch's eye as he plays the song (in full) to his number two, but why he couldn't have chosen to wait until they were alone is an interesting question...
