We've seen some shocking refereeing decisions over the years and this is up there with the very worst. On Wednesday night Manchester City took on Shakhtar Donetsk at the Etihad Stadium in a crunch clash, with 3 points potentially ensuring qualification from their group. At 1-0 up City were in cruise control and on the hunt for a second, which they got extremely controversially.
Raheem Sterling got in down the left, approached the keeper one-on-one and failed to test him after kicking the ground and tripping over. It was a pretty funny moment, but made absolutely hilarious by the referee thinking he was taken out by defender - meaning that City were SOMEHOW awarded with a penalty. The Shakhtar players and fans simply couldn't believe it and it looks like it was the same for the Citizens too!
