Reaching the last twenty-five minutes of the game, what was previously expected to be an incredible battle between two top Spanish sides was starting to seem fated to result as a goalless draw. This was all up until twenty-two-year-old Villarreal midfielder Pablo Fornals ambitiously struck the ball from just past the halfway line, where it flew across the pitch and into the far side of Unai Simon's net.
A busy summer for Villarreal saw over £80 million spent, but it was a player they had before the start of the season who scored their stunning opening goal. The transfer market arguably affected the other side though, with Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga departing to Chelsea over the summer, leaving the club with a twenty-one-year-old to take his place. That being said, it's unlikely that any goalkeeper would save this chance...
