Liverpool face a crunch clash against Dutch outfit PSV in the Champions League this week as they desperately attempt to turn their season around.
The Reds come into this game with two wins and three losses from their last five games, with their most recent game a resounding 0-3 loss to Nottingham Forest. Liverpool's domestic results have been waning for a while now, but they've still picked up some promising results in Europe, beating Eintracht Frankfurt (5-1) and Real Madrid (1-0). Liverpool sit 8th in the Champions League table with nine points from four games, so maybe Arne Slot's men will continue to see Europe as a refuge from the perils of Premier League football.
Liverpool have won two of their last three games on home soil, while three of their last five games have seen BTTS occur.
PSV, meanwhile, sit 18th in the Champions League table with five points from four games. The Eredivisie side have secured a 6-2 win over Napoli and 1-1 draws with Leverkusen and Olympiacos, while falling to a 1-3 defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise in their opening game.
Their form heading into this one is strong, with the team unbeaten in 11 games, winning eight of those. They tend to be a fun watch too, with over 2.5 goals being scored in six of their last eight games, while BTTS has occurred in six of their last seven.
The caveat here, though, is that Eredivisie form is not a good indicator of Champions League prospects given the disparity in quality between the two competitions, so Liverpool still enter this game as favourites. Their last two games in Europe show that despite their domestic form, the Reds can still win games against high-quality opposition in this competition, so we're going to back them to make it three on the bounce in the Champions League.
Liverpool 3-1 PSV
