Millwall vs. Sunderland Prediction, Tips & Stats

For our Millwall vs. Sunderland prediction, we're going for a 1-1 draw.

Two play-off contenders meet in the Championship this weekend as Millwall welcome Sunderland to The Den.

Millwall currently sit 8th in the Championship with twelve wins, six draws and nine losses from twenty-seven games this season.

The Lions have been consistently solid in the Championship this season and are on track to make a sustained play-off push from here until May, whether they reach their eventual goal or not.

They enter this game in solid form in the league having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five matches in the Championship.

Most recently, Millwall earned a hard-fought 1-0 wins way at Cardiff City courtesy of a goal from Tom Bradshaw.

The Lions have been decent away from home of late having won three and lost two of their last five league matches on the road.

Millwall have a solid shot at the play-offs this season as they sit just one point outside of the top six with plenty of games remaining. Ideally, they need to become more consistent as the likes of Norwich and West Brom in their vicinity have a lot growth ahead of them and will likely continue to improve but they're in a strong position nevertheless. This, however, will not be an easy game.

Sunderland currently sit 9th in the Championship with eleven wins, eight draws and nine losses from twenty-eight games this season.

The Black Cats are having an excellent season back in England's second tier under Tony Mowbray and are well placed to make a strong run for the play-offs in this latter third of the campaign.

They enter this game amidst a good run of form having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five league fixtures, with their most recent game an excellent 2-0 win over now 3rd place Middlesbrough.

Their most recent game overall came in the FA Cup where they secured a commendable 1-1 draw with Premier League side Fulham and were cruelly denied a huge win when 15-year-old Chris Rigg had what would have been a likely winner ruled out for offside.

The Black Cats' away form has been impressive in the league of late, with Mowbray's men winning three and drawing two of their last five league games on the road.

Sunderland beat Millwall 3-0 when the two sides met in the league back in December and they'll fancy themselves to complete a double here given their form. This game will almost certainly be much closer, though, and could end up a stalemate.
