Sunderland vs. Hull Prediction, Tips & Stats

For our Sunderland vs. Hull prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the home side.

Sunderland look to keep their slim play-off hopes alive as they face Hull City on Friday.

Sunderland currently sit 12th in the Championship with fourteen wins, twelve draws and thirteen losses from thirty-nine games this season.

The Black Cats have had a pretty successful campaign all things considered given it's their first season back in the Championship after spending time in League One, but they will be fairly frustrated if they end up missing the play-off after needlessly slipping up on multiple occasions recently.

They enter this game in pretty poor form having won just one of their last eight matches, a run that followed a strong period of form that has them looking like serious play-off contenders.

They did grab a valuable point in their most recent game, to be fair, having drawn 0-0 with league leaders Burnley away from home.

Sunderland desperately need to regain some momentum so their fans will desperately be hoping they can use that result as a springboard to further positive results.

Their form at home hasn't been great either, though, with The Black Cats failing to win any of their last four matches.

Sunderland are seven points shy of the play-offs with seven games remaining so their chances of a top six finish are slim. They're not impossible, though, but they have to take three points here.

Hull City currently sit 17th in the Championship with twelve wins, twelve draws and fifteen losses from thirty-nine games this season.

The Tigers have had a pretty dull campaign this time out having spent the majority of it in the bottom half, failing to threaten a significant rise up the table at any point.

They enter this game in fairly poor form, though, having won just one of their last five matches while failing to win any of their last four.

They've also lost just one of their last five, in fairness, and despite the excessive number of draws they can view their resolve as something to build on.

They've struggled a lot away from home in recent weeks having failed to win any of their last six on the road, drawing three and losing three of those.

These two sides shared the spoils when they met in the league back in December and we could be in for a similar result here given the two sides' form.

The Tigers are nine points clear of the relegation zone with seven games remaining and should be safe. A few more wins wouldn't hurt, though, but three points here would be an upset.
