Ipswich will take a break from their exceptional Championship form to attempt an FA Cup run too as the Tractor Boys head to the Cherry Red Records Stadium to meet with a Wimbledon side also in great form of their own.
After a struggle throughout the past few years down in the lower tiers, Wimbledon head into this FA Cup battle with Ipswich in solid form and well in with a shout of a playoffs finish. Currently, the Dons are sitting in seventh place with only six losses on the board and the fourth-best defensive record in League One that sees them with just 28 goals let in - only Barrow, Mansfield Town and Stockport County have let in fewer.
Better yet, Wimbledon have lost only one of their games in the past month across both the FA Cup, League One and the Football League Trophy, which is a run of form that is only bettered by a handful of teams in the Football League. This unbeaten run started with a win against Ramsgate in the FA Cup second round that saw the club run out 5-0 winners on home soil.
They matched this by beating the in-form promotional hopefuls Swindon Town 4-0. A 0-0 draw with Salford City in the league would follow, as Wimbledon then went on to beat fellow promotional candidates Portsmouth with a 5-2 thrashing at Fratton Park.
The club then managed to beat Crawley Town before suffering their only loss of the past seven games with a 1-0 home defeat to strugglers Sutton United. A win over Colchester United got them back in the win column before a 1-1 draw with Forest Green.
As for Ipswich, they have been the surprise package of the season across the Football League. Ipswich currently sit in fourth and although they are winless in the past five games, they still sit in second place and above third-placed Southampton by three points.
It keeps them well within a shout of a stunning run into the Premier League, as the club sit six points clear of the playoff spots. As the Tractor Boys are in the Championship, however, this will be their first game in the FA Cup, and it could be a great chance for them to return to the win column after four draws and a loss to Leeds United since defeating Watford back at the start of December. The draws saw the club grab a point at home to Leicester City, Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers before a tie away to Stoke City last time out.
