Manchester United and Liverpool reignite their rivalry this FA Cup weekend with two battling it out at Old Trafford for a semi-finals spot as the Red Devils look to stop their Merseyside nemesis in pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple.
It's the second time in the space of three seasons we have been talking about Liverpool winning four trophies in one season after triumphing in the FA Cup and League Cup in 2021/22 and narrowly missing out on the Champions League and Premier League.
This season, the Reds are the favourites to win the Europa League, as favourites to win here at Old Trafford and already with the EFL Cup secured and level on points with Arsenal in first with 10 games left.
Liverpool ran riot during the week in the Europa League, beating Sparta Praha 6-1 after a goal each from Bobby Clark, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai and a brace from Cody Gakpo. This also meant a stunning 11-2 aggregate win for Jurgen Klopp's men.
It also kept up Liverpool's unbeaten run since a loss to Arsenal at the start of February, which includes an EFL Cup final win over Chelsea and a draw at home to Manchester City last weekend.
As for United, they returned to winning ways last weekend after losses to Fulham and Manchester City, beating Everton 2-0 at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag's men also got a commendable draw at Anfield in the other meeting between these two this season, becoming the only team in 2023/24 to keep a clean sheet at Anfield.
On the other hand, the club did lose 7-0 at Anfield last season, 4-0 the season before that and even lost 5-0 at home that campaign. Ten Hag did guide his side to a win over Liverpool at Old Trafford last season, however, and three years ago, United defeated the Reds in the FA Cup on home soil too.
