After winning a trophy last season, West Ham will be desperate to get their hands on silverware once again, and they start their FA Cup campaign at home to Bristol City.
West Ham
David Moyes has done an excellent job at juggling the demands of the Premier League and European football, even though his squad is lacking depth in some areas. The Hammers are sixth in the league after 20 matches, winning 50% of their games.
West Ham have scored the ninth most goals in the top flight, 33, but last time out, they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Brighton. They have typically been leaky at times this season, conceding 1.5 goals per game on average, but not as of late, as they’ve kept four Premier League clean sheets in a row.
Bristol City
The Robins have also been relatively solid this season in the Championship, winning ten of their 26 matches and sitting in 11th place. However, Bristol City’s biggest issue has simply been that they can’t score enough goals, netting just 1.15 per game on average. Luckily, they are solid defensively, conceding just 1.08 per game, but that will be tested against West Ham.
Last time out, Bristol City suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Millwall. In truth, the game saw very little action, and neither side looked like winning until the visitors stole the three points with minutes to go.
Verdict?
The form of the two sides is completely different, with West Ham on a dominant streak and Bristol City struggling to score.
Therefore, we should see a West Ham win this weekend in what could be a low-scoring game.
The final prediction is West Ham 2-0 Bristol City.
