Barnsley vs. Derby Prediction, Tips & Stats

For our Barnsley vs. Derby prediction, we're going for a 1-1 draw.

We have a huge clash in League One this weekend as two sides chasing a play-off berth clash at Oakwell as Barnsley host Derby County.

Barnsley currently sit 6th in League One with seventeen wins, five draws and eight losses from thirty games this season.

After a slow start The Tykes have had a fine season in League One as they find themselves inside the play-off spots and in the midst of a rich vein of form.

They enter this game unbeaten in their last six matches in the league, having won five and drawn one, and are seemingly going from strength to strength this season.

Most recently, Barnsley travelled to Cheltenham Town and inflicted a ruthless drubbing on their opponents in a 4-0 rout.

The result also meant Barnsley have now scored nine goals in their last three games, with Michael Duff's side on fire in front of goal. Additionally, The Tykes have had seven different goalscorers in those three games which is a stat that will please Duff considering it shows they aren't reliant on a small number of players for goals.

Barnsley have won four of their last five matches on home soil and are exceptionally tough to beat whether at home or away. They've been beaten by Derby on two occasions already this season, 2-1 in the league back in August and 3-0 in the FA Cup in January, so they'll be determined to get one back here. Considering their form you wouldn't bet against it.

Derby County are currently 5th in League One with sixteen wins, nine draws and six losses from thirty-one games this season.

Similar to their opponents, The Rams started the campaign in inconsistent fashion but in the last couple of months they've firmly cemented themselves as one of the top play-off favourites having improved their form markedly.

They enter this game amidst a decent run of league form having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five matches in the league.

Most recently, Derby cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win over Charlton Athletic, a result that was very welcome considering it put the breaks on a two-match winless streak.

Derby will be somewhat concerned by their away form heading into this game having won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five league games on the road.

As previously mentioned, The Rams have already beaten Barnsley twice this season but both of those games were at home for Derby so they'll likely face a much stiffer challenge here. Expect a close game that could go either way.
