Ipswich Town are eyeing up the top half of the table when they meet with Charlton Athletic on Saturday where the Tractor Boys can head to the summit of the table if they can better the result of Plymouth Argyle and Sheffield Wednesday.
Ipswich were top of League One a few weeks back but have fallen off a little bit with their form, just as Wednesday played out an extra game to move them clear of the rest of the pack. At the same time, the club are coming into this one with just a two-point gap on the Owls at the top of the table with a game extra to play. They are also only behind Plymouth by one point.
Kieran McKenna's side drew 1-1 with Cheltenham last time out in the league after a goal from Conor Chaplin before an equaliser late on from Cheltenham. McKenna's men managed to have 23 shots that day and saw nine of them hit the target with the former Manchester United coach now sitting with a record of 39 wins, 22 draws and 12 losses from his 73 games in charge since taking the helm in December 2021 - this equals to a 53.4% win rate.
Two weeks back, the club managed to defeat Wycombe Wanderers 4-0 in what was arguably their best result of the season. Not long before that win, they also managed to defeat Derby County 2-0 at Pride Park in what was another sensational performance from McKenna's side.
As for Charlton, they've secured two wins in April already which includes their best performance of the season so far when they managed to hammer Shrewsbury Town 6-0 that saw five different goalscorers get in on the act after Miles Leaburn scored a brace in the second half after nine minutes.
The men from The Valley went on to lose 1-0 to Bristol Rovers just before, although they headed back to the win column with a 3-2 victory over Burton Albion. Charlton are now sitting 10th in the table.
