Northampton Town and Bristol Rovers are back in League One action this weekend with both sides separated by only two points in the league table with the away side in this one narrowly ahead of the home team.
The Cobblers have dipped significantly in their form in the past couple of weeks and now come into this game with only a few wins to boast of in the past couple of months after sitting as high as third a few weeks back. Northampton have managed to move down into 12th in the past few games, and they are sitting with 41 points and two points adrift of Bristol Rovers up in 10th right now.
Northampton are winless in the past four games and have managed to let in 11 goals in this period with a 2-0 loss at home to Shrewsbury Town being the worst of these results. Portsmouth also handed the club a 4-1 defeat three games ago, while Bolton Wanderers also managed to draw with them 1-1 before a 4-3 loss to Leyton Orient.
They have also managed to score only 40 times in the 31 games so far in League One, putting them as the third-worst goalscorers in the top half of the table. The club also head into this game with 47 goals let in too, and this is the worst defensive record for those inside the top 20 after Charlton Athletic's record of 49.
Bristol come into this game with two points on Northampton and with four more goals scored with two fewer on the board as well. Bristol managed to return to winning ways with a fantastic 3-2 win away to Stevenage last time out, as Luke Thomas, Chris Martin and Antony Evans all netted at Broadhall Way.
It has been a decent 2024 so far for Bristol with them managing to also beat the high-flying title challengers Oxford United, while they also managed to beat Exeter City before losses to Fleetwood Town and Burton Albion. Rovers are now into within 12 points of Oxford United in sixth and although a spot in the playoffs looks unlikely, it is important to remember that this is Bristol's second season back in the third tier.
