Port Vale vs. Oxford Utd Prediction, Tips & Stats

For our Port Vale vs. Oxford prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the away side.

Two sides in poor form meet in League One this weekend as Port Vale meet Oxford United on Monday.

Port Vale currently sit 17th in League One with twelve wins, nine draws and nineteen losses from forty games this season.

Port Vale have had a forgettable season in League One with their fans likely willing the campaign to come to a close given it's ending in painful fashion.

They enter this game in the midst of a dismal run of form having failed to win any of their last five matches while losing three of their last four.

Their most recent outing saw them comprehensively beaten 3-0 by Accrington Stanley, a side currently in the relegation zone.

Their form at home is slightly better having won two of their last four on home soil, but having los their last two on the bounce there's uncertainty over whether they can produce a sustained run of results.

Port Vale are seven points clear of the relegation zone with six games remaining so they should already have accumulated enough points to ensure they do not drop down to League Two. Regardless, though, they have much to ponder over this summer following a very disappointing season.

Oxford United currently sit 20th in League One with nine wins, twelve draws and eighteen losses from thirty-nine games this season.

The U's have had a dismal campaign in League One this time out as they fight for their lives to avoid relegation to England's fourth tier.

They're coming into this game amidst an atrocious run of form having failed to win any of their last thirteen matches.

They are, though, coming off the back of a couple of positive results having secured successive draws against two promotion contending teams in Peterborough United and Sheffield Wednesday.

While not wins, these draws at least demonstrated a level pf fight and quality needed to emerge from the right side of a relegation battle.

Their form away from home is not particularly encouraging having drawn three and lost two of their last five matches on the road.

Oxford can take confidence from the fact they battered Port Vale 4-0 when the two sides met back in November, and while this game will likely be closer they're arguably the side in better shape.

Oxford are just one point above the relegation zone and cannot afford a slip ups in what is a very winnable game here.
