Stevenage vs Shrewsbury Prediction, Tips & Stats

Stevenage are aiming to make it three wins from three at the start of the 2023/24 season with a fantastic first two results that saw it win on the road and knock out Watford in the EFL Cup ahead of Shrewsbury Town's visit.

Stevenage defeated Northampton Town last weekend after a goal late on from defender Carl Piergianni. Northampton did finish above Stevenage last season in the race to get out of League Two, but the latter has had the latest laugh with an opening day victory.

Steve Evans' side played host to Watford during the week in the EFL Cup, as Josh March equalised in the first half after going a goal down early on. Evans' men ran out winners on penalties to make it into the second round.

As for Shrewsbury, they relied on the brilliance of Ryam Bowman once again in their opening game against Cheltenham Town, as his finish in the second half earned all three points in a 1-0 home win. The club then headed to Elland Road for a EFL Cup clash with Leeds United, and despite taking the lead through Taylor Perry, the club fel to a 2-1 loss in the end.

              Shrewsbury team news

Ryan Bowman scored once again last weekend as he continued his excellent form from last season and he should start here once more with Udoh in the attack. Winchester, Perry, Kenneh and Bayliss are all likely to stay in midfield with Jay Shipley facing a late fitness test ahead of this one after his departure in the second half last weekend. The usual defence of Feeney, Flanagan and Anderson should remain, and Mal Benning may now start for Shipley. Travis Hernes came off the bench against Cheltenham last weekend and could feature at some stage once more.

              Stevenage team news

Stevenage's excellent start to the season likely means it doesn't make many changes in this game. Aaron Pressley should remain up top with Jamie Reid, although both did come off in the second half of the win over Northampton. Nick Freeman is also likely to get minutes in this game alongside Josh March, while Alex MacDonald could start after missing the past two games. Buterl, Thompson, Thompson and Wildin are likely to stay in midfield, however, while Carl Piergianni should say in defence after his winning goal away at Northampton.
