Wigan Athletic are looking to continue their impressive form as they face Charlton Athletic in League One this week.
Wigan Athletic currently sit 19th in League One with seven wins, one draw and six losses from fourteen games so far this season.
The Latics have been solid enough in the opening couple of months of the league campaign, not forgetting their lowly position in the league table is largely owing to the fact they began the season with an eight-point deduction.
They're coming into this game amidst a very strong run of form having won their last three consecutive matches in the league, the most recent of which was a 2-0 win over Shrewsbury Town.
The win over the Shrews was a solid, professional showing from the Tics with goals from Stephen Humphrys and Callum Lang enough for all three points.
Having registered wins over Bolton Wanderers and Oxford United in the league this season, Wigan have shown they can mix it with the league's better sides so a play-off push is not out of the question even though they have a significant amount of ground to make up.
A win here would really help put some momentum behind them and based on current form you'd be brave to back against them.
Charlton Athletic currently sit 15th in League One with five wins, three draws and six losses from fourteen games this season.
The Addicks have been beyond disappointing this season when looking at both their league position and the strength of their squad on paper, with the latter one of the best in the division and the former not even close to being aligned with it.
They're entering this game amidst a mixed run of form having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five games, the most recent of which was a 0-2 defeat to Bolton Wanderers.
The loss against Bolton was their second on the bounce so the trajectory of their form is more worrying than their form itself, so they need a win here as three losses on the bounce would be awful for confidence in their predicament.
The signs aren't promising, however, as they come into this game having failed to win a single game away from home in the league this season, drawing two and losing three.
Given Wigan's excellent form and everything just mentioned about Charlton, it's hard to see how the Addicks avoid defeat here.
For our Wigan vs. Charlton prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the home side.
