Carlisle vs Harrogate Prediction, Tips & Stats

Carlisle United head into their second clash at Brunton Park within five days after a sensational 5-1 win over Barrow last time out put them in as good of a position as they have been all season long ahead of Harrogate Town's visit up north.

While Carlisle have been in fantastic form, Harrogate continue to struggle and are fighting for their life in the Football League this campaign. So far in 2023, they are yet to win a game and they actually remain winless since a narrow Boxing Day victory against Grimsby Town. Bradford City went on to beat them 1-0 before drawing with Hartlepool United and Stevenage.

Further losses to Colchester United and Sutton United have sent them crashing down into 21st and Simon Weaver now sees his side just three points above Gillingham in 23rd. On the other hand, Weaver's side have games in hand over Rochdale and Hartlepool, which will favour them greatly in the long run.

As for Carlisle, they smashed Barrow in their last outing with a stunning 5-1 victory. Joe Garner and Omari Patrick scored a goal that day, as Kristian Dennis netted from the spot. Jon Jame Alexander Mellish also managed to score twice from the back in the last game.

            Carlisle team news

Carlisle's excellent 5-1 win over Barrow last time out was one of their best this season but with them playing as recently as Tuesday, there could be changes to this side here. Quite incredibly, Jon James Alexander Mellish scored twice for Carlisle at Brunton Park from the back and he should remain here with Feeney, Huntington and Armer. Kristian Dennis is likely to start after missing the last game, while Jamie Devitt and Corey Whelan both missed the last game too and could now come into this starting XI. Joe Garner and Omari Patrick scored goals last time out too and likely start once more, but there could be changes in midfield for Moxon, Guy and Gibson - the latter was booked last time out against Barrow.

            Harrogate team news

Harrogate could make some changes here with the club struggling to find any sort of form in League Two. Worse yet, they head into this game with injuries to Sims and Thomson in midfield and they will miss this game. Mark Oxley could return in goal here for Jameson. In defence, the usual players of Eastman, O'Connor and Mattock are likely to remain, with Burrell also set to face a late fitness test in midfield. Pattison and Foulds will still play, however. Folarin is also likely to face a late fitness test after he came off with a booking in the last game. Armstrong is also going to play in this one. Josh Falkingham is back now and may start, while Daniel Grant should start this game. Jack Muldoon will play here too, as Kayne Ramsey and Matty Daly potentially get minutes off the bench as well.
