Crawley vs Wrexham Preview, Tips & Stats

Crawley Town will be aiming to continue their impressive start to the League Two campaign as they are set to host Wrexham town at Broadfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a game which kicks off at 3:00.

Scott Lindsey’s side currently sit in 2nd place in the League Two table, level on points with Notts County at the summit of the table. This comes following six wins, two draws and two defeats from Crawley’s opening ten league games.

The Red Devils are undefeated in their last five league games, gaining 13 points from the last 15 on offer. Crawley have been particularly impressive at home, winning all three of their matches at The People's Pension Stadium. However, they have struggled away from home, winning just one of their six matches on the road.

In their last league outing, Crawley were defeated by Doncaster, who took the lead in the 27th minute through Mo Faal, and they doubled their lead in the 85th minute through a Joe Ironside penalty. Crawley had a number of chances to equalise, but they were unable to find the back of the net.

Wrexham currently find themselves inside the top half of the League Two table in 9th position on 16 points. Phil Parkinson’s side have won four, drawn four and lost just two of their opening ten games this season.

The Red Dragons were last in action on Tuesday evening as they were held to a draw at Mansfield. Both teams had chances to win the match, but neither side was able to find the back of the net. Wrexham started the match brightly and had a number of chances in the early stages. However, Mansfield Town grew into the match and had a number of chances of their own in the second half.

The first meeting between Wrexham and Crawley Town took place on February 26, 2009, in the League Two play-offs. Crawley Town won the match 2-1 on aggregate, knocking Wrexham out of the play-offs.

The two teams have met 12 times in total, with Crawley Town winning 6 matches, Wrexham winning 4 matches, and 2 matches being drawn. The head-to-head record between the two teams is very close, with Crawley Town having a slight edge. However, Wrexham have won the last two meetings between the two teams.

Despite Crawley’s recent form, it is Wrexham who come into this game as heavy favourites and are currently priced @ 1/1, whilst home win for Crawley is priced @11/5.

We are backing Elliot Lee to score the first goal in the game. Lee is Wrexham's top scorer this season with 7 goals in 11 matches. Lee is a prolific goalscorer, and he is a key player for Wrexham. He is strong in the air and he is good with both feet. He is also a hard worker and he is always looking to score goals.

Crawley Team News

Will Ferry is still out with an ankle injury, and Jordon Mutch and Ludwig Francillette remain ruled out for the season. Frost and Nichols are also likely to be involved in the match, as they will be eager to get some minutes under their belts after returning from injury.

Wrexham Team News

Wrexham have a number of notable absentees ahead of this game. Paul Mullin is set to face an extended period on the sidelines after he punctured his lung. Ben Tozer, Reece Hall-Johnson and Liam McAlinden are also expected to miss this game through injury.
