Crewe vs. Accrington Prediction, Tips & Stats

Two sides hoping for a playoff berth in League Two this season meet this weekend as Crewe Alexandra take on Accrington Stanley.

Crewe Alexandra currently sit 5th in League Two with ten wins, six draws and four losses from twenty games this season.

Following an underwhelming and middling campaign last season, Crewe are delivering a much improved showing for their fans thus far as they look to bounce back to England's third tier following a second successive season in League Two.

They're coming into this game in solid form on the whole having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five games, the most recent of which was a 2-1 loss at Grimsby Town.

The loss against Grimsby means they're now two league games without a win so they are faltering slightly, meaning a win here is a must to maintain morale in and around the club.

The encouraging thing is that their form at home has been very good of late as they enter this game having won four of their last five games on home soil.

Accrington are a tricky opponent but Crewe look like a genuine promotion contender this season so in front of their own fans they'll be confident of taking all three points here.

Accrington Stanley currently sit 10th in League Two with nine wins, three draws and nine losses from twenty-one games this season.

After a strong start to the campaign the Lancashire club have tailed off quite notably as they find themselves battling to break back into the playoff places.

They're entering this game in very poor form on the whole having won just one of their last six games in the league, losing four of those.

Their latest league fixture saw them held to a 0-0 draw against Doncaster Rovers, a result that means they're now three games without a win.

Their form away from home hasn't been too bad of late, though, with Accrington having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five games on the road.

Accrington need a big change to get back on track with their playoff push and a win here would do wonders for the mood around the club. It won't come easily, though, and the home side are probably the more likely to take the win.

For our Crewe vs. Accrington prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the home side.

        Crewe Team News

Connor O'Riordan was absent for Crewe's FA Cup loss at the hands of Bristol Rovers in midweek and could miss out again here.

Ryan Cooney and Elliott Nevitt could both return to the starting lineup for this game.

        Accrington Team News

Goalkeeper Jon McCracken is likely to miss out with injury once again here so Joseph Walsh should continue between the sticks.

Jay Noah Rich-Baghuelou and Korede Adedoyin both missed the draw with Doncaster last weekend and are major doubts for this one.
