Mansfield vs Barrow Prediction, Tips & Stats

Fifth takes on 10th in League Two this Saturday afternoon at Field Mill with Mansfield set to welcome Barrow to their own patch off the back of another excellent start to the season for the home side.

Mansfield come into this game having put together a run of three games and five draws to sit as the only unbeaten side in League Two alongside the in-form Swindon Town. In fact, up in League One, only Lincoln City and Portsmouth are unbeaten, while no side in the Championship is, therefore making Mansfield one of just four sides across the Football League yet to taste a league loss.

On the other hand, they have drawn the most games in the division with five on the board so far. This has seen the club draw with Colchester United last time out in a 1-1 draw that saw KD Davis bag an equaliser in the dying seconds of the game.

Prior to this, Mansfield defeated Accrington Stanley 3-0 away from home, as Davis bagged again alongside a finish from Aaron James Lewis and George Maris. A draw with Bradford City would come in before this, while the club have also managed to beat Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Cup first round with a penalty shootout win - they now meet with Peterborough United in the third round on Tuesday.

The other wins this season for Mansfield in the league has seen them defeat Stockport County 3-1 and beat Morecambe 3-0. This means all three wins have seen them get at least three goals in each match.

As for Barrow, they have failed to win their past two games either side of the international break, losing to Blackpool in the group stages of the Football League Trophy, while they managed to draw 1-1 with Newport County in South Wales last time out with a second half penalty from Dean Campbell.

Barrow have also beat Harrogate Town 1-0 this September with a goal in the first half from Kian Spence. The other wins for the club in 2023/24 in League Two have seen them edge past Sutton United 2-1 and Tranmere Rovers by the same scoreline. Barrow have lost to Stockport and Bolton Wanderers in their other two losses in League Two.

          Mansfield team news

KD Davis has bagged six goals already this season and is set to feature here once more, while Luke Akins and Gale should start ahead of him as a forward duo once more. Lewis and George Maris got goals from midfield in their recent win over Accrington, and they should remain here alongside Reed. MacDonald, Brunt, Adam Flint and Josh Bowery are all expected in defence once more, with the latter performing very well in recent weeks in his new role.

          Barrow team news

David Worrall came off in the draw with Newport the other day, but he is fit to play here. There are, however, injuries to Sam Foley, Robbie Gotts and Josh Lillies. James Chester is fit to play here and may start, while Gerard Garner should get some minutes too after missing the last outing. Jamie Proctor will start up top again, while Dominic Telford should be fit to play, despite coming off with an injury in the last game.
