13:15 - Aintree - Javert Allen

The opening race on ITV is a handicap chase over two miles. Kadastral returns from a long break and could be fit to fire on his first start after wind surgery.

However, Javert Allen could be a more interesting value angle. The seven-year-old was last seen running with credit when tenth in the Red Rum Handicap Chase in April.

The Jane Williams-trained runner has won twice from nine starts over fences, and runs off the same competitive mark as when he was beaten a short head at Chepstow in February.

Typically goes well fresh, winning well on his first start over fences in November 2024 at Chepstow, and re-appearing last season with a decent fourth behind the talented Mambonumberfive over course and distance. Races off a 3lb lower mark than he did 12 months ago.

13:45 - Aintree - Mydaddypaddy

An interesting renewal of the Grade Two Molyneux Hurdle (formerly the Elite Hurdle) is next off at 13:45. Alexei progressed well last season before finishing third in the Group One Aintree Hurdle. Mange Tout is a previous course-and-distance winner and should be respected.

But, this should be a good starting point for Mydaddypaddy, who has Champion Hurdle ambitions next March. The Dan Skelton yard is in red-hot form, and the five-year-old last finished a close third in the Grade One Supreme.

The only real blot on his copybook came over course and distance when he was well beaten by Idaho Sun in the Grade One Formby, but omitted hurdles could have hindered his chance on that day. Strong travelling type, who could have a major role to play over hurdles this season.

Produced a devastating display after a break on his hurdles debut last year. This is a much deeper contest, but seems to go well fresh, and nothing wrong with the form in the dominant yard in the country.

14:10 - Doncaster - Copacabana Sands

Flat action is also covered on ITV this weekend, beginning with the Listed Wentworth Stakes at Doncaster. Copacabana Sands could be an interesting each-way angle for the in-form Andrew Balding.

Oisin Murphy is booked aboard the four-year-old filly, who has been campaigned over seven furlongs throughout much of the season.

Was last seen finishing a close-enough sixth when only four lengths behind Pina Sonata in the Group Three Sceptre Fillies’ Stakes. The drop to six furlongs should suit, while testing ground is also a positive, having won on soft at Leopardstown last June and also finishing a close second in a 20-runner handicap on testing ground.

First-time headgear should sharpen her up, and she should not be dismissed on her fourth start for the Balding yard.

14:25 - Aintree - Taurus Bay

One of the most informative races on Saturday is the Grade Two Rising Stars Novices’ Chase, which will see No Drama This End over fences for the first time. Paul Nicholls has an excellent record in this race, ensuring that the six-year-old should be respected.

Talk To The Man was also a striking winner on chase debut at Worcester, beating Klimt Madrik, who runs at Aintree on Friday.

Taurus Bay could be the most interesting contender in this field for the Ben Pauling stable. The five-year-old was well-beaten in the Grade One Turners Novices’ Hurdle, but at least finished the race, unlike the disappointing No Drama This End on the day.

Chasing was always likely to be game for the Pauling runner, and he was an excellent winner of a point at Comea, Handles Aintree, based on his four-length win over Captain Hugo last December, which was followed by a strong-finishing second in the Grade Two Novices’ Hurdle on Cheltenham Trials Day.

Could feasibly be much better over a fence.

14:45 - Doncaster - Felicitas

Next up is the Listed Gillies Fillies’ Stakes at Doncaster, run over a mile and two. Felicitas could be an interesting chance for the in-form Ed Walker yard ,if replicating the level of form that she showed at the start of the season.

The three-year-old was an excellent winner over a mile and two at Sandown in a Fillies’ Novice Stakes in April, before running Legacy Link close in the Group Three Musidora.

Her campaign tailed off slightly after that, finishing seventh in the Group One Prix de Diane, before running well below her best at Salisbury and Newmarket. Could easily bounce back to form for a yard in excellent recent form.

15:00 - Aintree - The Egyptian Ginge

A field of 13 runners go to post for the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle at 15:00, and cases could be made for many of the contenders.

The Egyptian Ginge could be an interesting play for the Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies yard. The five-year-old has been in red-hot form this season, winning on back-to-back starts at Worcester and Market Rasen. In his latest effort, he finished two lengths clear of Diamond Geezer.

He has quickly been raised 15lb since his win at Ludlow in April, and up another 5lb after his recent win.

Jamie Neild takes off 7lb, but nothing about the way he has been winning suggests that the handicapper has got him just yet.

15:25 - Doncaster - Castle Cove

ITV’s final race from Doncaster on Saturday is the November Handicap, which has attracted a maximum field of 23 runners.

Castle Cove is a standout chance for the William Haggas yard, with Cieren Fallon booked aboard. The five-year-old was last seen winning this race by a dominant four lengths 12 months ago, and races off an 8lb higher mark this time around.

Always runs consistently, having also won following a long layoff after being gelded at Chester last August. Likely a long-term goal by connections, and the manner of his success 12 months ago makes him of serious interest once again.

15:35 - Aintree - Josh The Boss

ITV’s coverage from Aintree concludes with a Handicap Chase over two miles and four. Boombawn will be a red-hot favourite for the Skeltons in first-time headgear. However, we'd be prepared to take a chance on a more unexposed rival, Josh The Boss.

The Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies yard are in fine recent form, and the seven-year-old made his return to the track after wind surgery at Wetherby last month, running a credible second. Likely needed the run that day after fading in the closing stages.

The selection has won twice from nine starts over fences, and goes well at Aintree, highlighted by his close second over course and distance last Boxing Day, running off a lower mark this weekend.

He is 4lb higher than his last winning mark, but he has every chance of improving again on his second start after wind surgery, with claimer Jamie Neild taking off 7lb.
