Morecambe went ahead through Michael Mellon in the 12th minute, but Will Evans equalised before halftime for Newport County. In the second half Seb Palmer-Houlden put Newport ahead to give them the 2 - 1 win.

In the Second round of the FA Cup, Morecambe travelled to Wycombe. Eli King and Tom Bloxham both scored to give Morecambe the dominant 2 - 0 win that saw Morecambe have 80% of the possession. Next time out for Morecambe saw them host Stockport.
