Montpellier vs. Lorient Prediction, Tips & Stats

We have a mid-table clash in Ligue 1 this weekend as Montpellier face Lorient.

Montpellier currently sit 12th in Ligue 1 with thirteen wins, four draws and seventeen losses from thirty-four games this season.

It's been a wholly unremarkable campaign for Montpellier who've spent the entire season in mid-table having failed to make a serious run at the European spots.

They enter this game in mixed form having won two and lost three of their last five games, the most recent of which was a 5-4 loss at Lyon.

The defeat at Lyon was a painful one with Montpellier having sacrificed a 4-1 lead having scored their fourth goal in the 51st minute, only for Alexandre Lacazette to bag four goals, the last of which was a 100th minute penalty.

They can still be encouraged by their form at home, though, having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five games on home soil.

Montpellier have nothing to play for in the last four games of the season but they'll want to finish as high as possible in the Ligue 1 table and they'll most definitely want to make up for last weekend's calamity at Lyon.

Lorient currently sit 9th in Ligue 1 with fourteen wins, nine draws and eleven losses from thirty-four games this season.

It's been an impressive campaign by Lorient this season having proved a much improved unit from last season as they look on course to secure a top half finish.

They enter this game in good form too, with Lorient having won their last two consecutive games having beaten PSG 3-1 away from home one game before their most recent encounter.

Their form away from home has been poor overall, but having won their most recent game on the road at PSG they should feel confident coming into this game.

Lorient lost 0-2 to Montpellier when the two sides met back in December so they'll be determined to get one back here.

For our Montpellier vs. Lorient prediction, we're going for a 1-1 draw.
