Nice and Lyon are separated by just two places in the Ligue 1 table but head into this game with nothing to play for on the final game of the season in the French top flight.
Lyon can still technically get into Europe this season, but it is incredibly doubtful they end up in fifth because of their inferior goals difference tally. The club sit behind Rennes in the table by just three points but they will need to win this hame, hope Monaco and Rennes lose their matches and also overturn a goals difference tally of nine goals on the latter too.
It sees Lyon banking on a miracle to get something out of this game, but nevertheless, they can still finish above Monaco in sixth if they win and Monaco lose to Toulouse at home.
As for Nice, they have been out of the European spots for a number of weeks and now head into this game off the back of losing 10 games and winning 14 matches from 37 outings. On the other hand, Nicve have managed to let in just 36 goals this season, meaning they boast of a better goals difference record than Paris Saint-Germain with only Lens having a better record than them.
Nice can move ahead of Clermont Foot in the table if they can better their result this weekend and they won't drop any lower in the table after beating Montpellier 3-2 away from home last time out.
Alexandre Lacazette will also be in search of at least two goals in order to win the Ligue 1 top scorer award in this game. The ex-Arsenal man currently sits on 27 Ligue 1 goals and one behind Kylian Mbappe - he will meet with Clermont Foot in the French capital at the same time. Lacazette is, however, still the highest-scoring player in Europe in 2023 this season after netting 15 of his goals this calendar year, including four against Montpellier the other week.
