Portland Timbers are heading on the road to the Allianz Field to meet with Minnesota United after a midweek club friendly for the Loons in what has been a terrible season so far for them.
Minnesota clashed with Kaiserslautern in their midweek friendly and it also comes after a draw with Real Salt Lake. The club took a 2-0 lead that day with Hassani Dotson scored that day before a finish from Emanuel Reynoso, although two late goals forced a draw for them.
Prior to that, the Loons lost 4-0 on the road to Montreal and it now means six games without a win after also losing to Houston Dynamo U.S. Open Cup round of 16 before draws with Toronto and Salt Lake and a defeat to Austin.
Portland Timbers head into this game after a draw with New York City that saw Evander get another goal. It was their third winless game in a row after a 0-0 draw with San Jose Earthquakes and a defeat at home to Chicago Fire.
The Timbers have now moved down into 10th in the table and are four points adrift of seventh-placed Dallas. At the same time, they also sit just one point ahead of Minnesota with the latter having two games in hand to play with as well.
Both sides have also won five times this season, but the Loons are the third-lowest scoring side in the league with just 17 going in for them.
