Sixth and eighth will meet in the Premier League this weekend with both Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur looking to give their battle to get into the Europa League one more go with an unhealthy gap on Liverpool in fifth.
Villa's recent losing run has seen them fail to score against Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers. In fact, from 22 games under Unai Emery, it now means the club have failed to score in the past two games after previously breaking a record to become the first manager to see his side score a goal in his first 20 games.
Villa now play sixth, seventh and fifth in their remaining three games and it does mean they can still get into the Europa League with a gap of eight points left on Liverpool. They will, however, need the Reds to lose all their games at the same time.
Villa's previous run under Emery saw them rocket up the league saw the Villains defeat Newcastle United 3-0 and draw with Brentford before a victory over Fulham. They also defeated Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to move them all the way into the European talk.
As for Spurs, they got their first win in five games after beating Brighton & Hove Albion in early April. The club went on to lose to Bournemouth before a 6-1 hammering at the hands of Newcastle United. They then drew 2-2 with Manchester United before that thrilling 4-3 loss to Liverpool that all but ended their hopes of Champions League football. Spurs did, however, get back in the win column last time out by defeating Crystal Palace at home thanks to another goal from the irreplaceable Harry Kane.
Kane now has 26 goals this season in what could end up being one of his final games for Spurs with reports growing stronger by the week on a move away from the club.
