Brentford vs Chelsea Preview, Tips & Stats

This Saturday sees a West London derby between Brentford and Chelsea in the Premier League. Both sides sit in the bottom half of the table and either look to make the leap into the top half of the table or pitting some more room between themselves and the relegation zone.

Brentford currently sit 16th in the Premier League after 26 games. The Bees have seven wins, four draws and 15 losses, leaving them on 25 points, just five points above the relegation zone.

In their last five games in all competitions, Brentford have one win and three losses.

The visit from Manchester City saw Neal Maupay give Brentford the early lead. However, a hat-trick from Phil Foden secured the 3 - 1 win for City. The Bees bounced back the next time out against Wolves. Christian Norgaard and Ivan Toney both scored to give Brentford the 2 - 0 win, despite having just 28% of the possession.

Toney was on the scoresheet again for Brentford against Liverpool, however, Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo all scored to give Liverpool the 4 - 1 win over The Bees. The next time out saw another clash with Man City for Brentford. Erling Haaland scored the only goal of the game in the 71st minute to give City the 1 - 0 win.

The last time out for Brentford was against West Ham. Maupay and Yoane Wissa were both on the scoresheet for Brentford, but a hat-trick from Jarrod Bowen and a goal from Emerson Palmieri gave West Ham the 4 - 2 win.

Chelsea sit just above Brentford in 11th in the Premier League. In 25 games, The Blues have ten wins, five draws and ten losses which leaves them on 35 points, two points from the top half of the table.

In their last five games in all competitions, Chelsea have three wins, one draw and one loss.

In the Fourth Round Replays of the FA Cup, Chelsea took on Aston Villa. Conor Gallagher and Nicolas Jackson gave Chelsea the 2 - 0 lead at halftime and Enzo Fernandez added a third early in the second half. Moussa Diaby did grab a goal, but it was a consolation as Chelsea secured the 3 - 1 win. Back in the Premier League, Chelsea faced Crystal Palace. The Eagles opened the scoring through Jefferson Lerma but a brace from Gallagher and a goal from Fernandez grabbed another 3 - 1 win for Chelsea.

The trip to the Etihad saw former City player Raheem Sterling give The Blues the lead in the first half. However, Rodri scored in the 83rd minute to grab a 1 - 1 draw for Man City. In the Final of the League Cup, Virgil van Dijk scored the only goal of the game in the last minute of extra time to give Liverpool the 1 - 0 win.

The most recent outing for Chelsea was against Leeds in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup. Mateo Joseph opened the scoring for Leeds in the eighth minute but goals from Jackson and Mykhailo Mudryk gave Chelsea the 2 - 1 lead at halftime. Joseph scored again to level the game but Gallagher scored late on to give Chelsea the 3 - 2 win.

There have been 20 meetings between the two sides, with the first meeting coming back in 1935. Chelsea have a marginally better record in this fixture with ten wins in comparison to Brentford’s seven wins, with the other three games ending in a draw.
