Brentford vs West Ham Prediction, Tips & Stats

Brentford and West Ham United will clash in another London derby this weekend with the home side aiming to stay in the top half of the table just as the Hammers look to finally secure safety in the Premier League.

West Ham are also in control of their Europa Conference League fate after coming from behind against AZ Alkmaar to lead 2-1 at the London Stadium before a trip to the Netherlands next week. Said Benrahma scored an equaliser from the penalty spot in the second half before Michail Antonio netted a goal in the final 15 minutes of the match.

David Moyes' side also sit seven clear of the relegation zone with just nine points left to play for and will be safe in the Premier League for another season even without a win, as they only need to see Leicester City and Leeds United lose. Even if those two sides win, if West Ham get all three points, they will have secured survival.

As for Brentford, they have not been in the relegation fight all season long and now sit 13 points above West Ham with just nine defeats this season - this is the same as Manchester United and Liverpool in the top five.

The Bees have also won 12 games this campaign, although they did see their three-game unbeaten run come to an end by losing to Liverpool at Anfield last weekend. The club previously drew 1-1 with Aston Villa and beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and Nottingham Forest 2-1 at home.

There is very little to play for now for Brentford, and it could give West Ham the advantage. On the other hand, they no doubt have one eye on their second leg clash with AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League next Thursday.

              Brentford team news

Pontus Jansson is unlikely to play again this season with his hamstring injury and Keane Lewis-Potter is in the same boat it seems. Christian Norgaard will also face a late fitness test ahead of this game and is unlikely to feature. Thomas Strakosha will also miss this game through injury and he could feature in the next outing.

              West Ham team news

West Ham have seen many of their injuries ease in the past few weeks and only Gianluca Scamacca is a guaruntee to miss this one. Vladimir Coufal is also set to be assessed but is unlikely to feature. Danny Ings may start with Manuel Lanzini and Maxwel Cornet after both missed the last outing against AZ Alkmaar. Lukas Fabianski should come in for Areola after the latter started on Thursday.
