The Sean Dyche revolution continues at Everton as The Toffees welcome Aston Villa to Goodison Park in the Premier League this weekend.
Everton currently sit 16th in the Premier League with five wins, six draws and twelve losses from twenty-three games this season.
The Toffees have had a dismal season for the most part but following the highly anticipated appointment of Sean Dyche things are looking far more promising on the blue side of Liverpool.
Dyche has taken to the Everton dugout three times so far having beaten league leaders Arsenal in his opening game before losing 2-0 to local rivals Liverpool followed by a crucial 1-0 win over relegation rivals Leeds United last time out.
The win over Leeds was of utmost importance given it came against a side with identical ambitions this season and The Toffees triumphed with a hard-fought 1-0 victory.
Dyche will be extremely pleased with the fact his side have kept two clean sheets in his first three games, and he'll be even more pleased with the news of England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford agreeing a new contract with the club, set to run until 2027. The news should breathe an added air of positivity to the atmosphere around the club.
Everton still sit just one point outside of the relegation zone so more wins are essential, and it'll be home games of this calibre that Dyche and his staff will have identified as must wins. Villa are a tough opponent and a well-coached unit but The Toffees are more than capable of winning this one.
Aston Villa currently sit 11th in the Premier League with eight wins, four draws and eleven losses from twenty-three games this season.
Villa have improved dramatically since the appointment of Unai Emery as manager following a poor start to the season under Steven Gerrard and look a much improved unit.
They do, however, enter this game amidst a difficult run of form having lost three league games on the bounce, the most recent of which was a 2-4 defeat to Arsenal.
In fairness, two of those losses have come at the hands of the league's top two sides, and they showed plenty of positives against Arsenal, so they'll be hoping this run is a minor blip in their campaign.
Villa's away form is very good in the Premier League having won three of their last four league games on the road, so even though Goodison Park is a difficult place to travel they'll be quietly confident of getting a result here.
Villa beat Everton 2-1 when the two sides last met in August but with both sides now under the guidance of a new manager that likely doesn't tell us much about how this game will play out. Expect a tight, tight encounter with no more than one goal separating the two sides.
