Ipswich Town vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Prediction

Ipswich Town versus Wolverhampton Wanderers will be a fascinating contest, as this is realistically the hosts simply have to win here to stand any chance of earning what looks like an unlikely Premier League survival campaign, as they sit nine points adrift of the visitors with just eight games to go.

Kieran Mckenna’s side have played good football throughout the 2024/25 season, however, they haven’t had the results to show for it, meaning that their home form is dismal, having picked up just seven points from 15 games, winning one, drawing four and losing 10 while scoring just 12 times and leaking 34 goals.

Wolves have won four of their 15 games away from Molineux, while drawing three times and losing the other eighth, meaning that their record on the road is the fourth-worst in the division. Their most recent away victory did come away at Southampton on 15th March.

As far as head-to-head records go, Ipswich have won the last two meetings between these two sides, however, Gary O’Neil was in charge of Wolves for both of those matches, meaning that this game will be a completely different prospect with Vitor Pereira in Charge.

Prediction: Ipswich Town 1-2 Wolves

Ipswich Town vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Prediction & Preview

On Saturday, 5th April, 18th-place Ipswich Town hosts 17th-place Wolverhampton Wanderers in what feels like a do-or-die game in the relegation Premier League battle, with the Tractor Boys knowing anything but a win will likely confirm their relegation.

Date: 05/04/2025

Location: Portman Road

Time: 3pm

The last head-to-head clash between these two sides saw Gary O’Neil lose his job as Wolves manager, as they suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Ipswich Town on 14th December as Jack Taylor scored a dramatic 94th-minute winner after Matheus Cunha had equalised in the aftermath of a Matt Doherty own goal.

As previously mentioned, Ipswich are 18th in the Premier League table with just 20 points to their name from 30 matches, having won four, drawn eight and lost 18 while scoring 30 and conceding 63. The Tractor Boys are currently the best performing side of the promoted three, however, they sit nine points adrift of 17th-place Wolverhampton Wanderers, meaning that they have a lot of work to do in order to just catch up to their opponents.

Wolves have had a tricky campaign, however, Portuguese head coach Vitor Pereira looks to have stabilised them and to have potentially consolidated them in the Premier League for another season, having won eight, drawn three and lost six times in 17 matches since replacing O’Neil.

Prior to Pereira’s arrival, Wolves were 19th in the Premier League table with just nine points from 16 games. A catalyst for Wolves’ survival chances has been Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha, as the former Atlético Madrid man has scored 13 goals and created four assists in 26 matches, seeing him linked with potential moves to the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.

Form Guide

Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town earned themselves a crucial 2-1 victory away at Bournemouth last time out thanks to strikes from Nathan Broadhead and Liam Delap prior to Evanilson pulling a goal back in the 67th-minute.

Prior to that game, the Tractor Boys had suffered league and cup defeats to Nottingham Forest (4-2 & 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw), on top of further losses to Crystal Palace (1-0) and Manchester United (3-2).

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves are unbeaten in their last three matches heading into this game.

The visitors had suffered defeats to Fulham (2-1) and AFC Bournemouth (5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw). However, since then, they have drawn 1-1 at home to Everton while beating Southampton (2-1) and West Ham United (1-0) with Jorgen Strand Larsen scoring the only goal of the game last time out.
