Las Palmas vs Barcelona Prediction

League leaders Barcelona enter their away clash with 17th-place Las Palmas as firm favourites having won ten of their last 12 matches across all competitions. During this impressive streak of form, Hansi Flick’s men have found the back of the net 41 times, an average of 3.41 times per game.

On top of this, Barcelona have won seven, drawn one and lost one of their previous nine meetings with the home side, while in La Liga, Blaugrana have the best away record of any side, having accumulated 27 points from 13 games (winning eight, drawing three and losing two).

Meanwhile, Las Palmas have the third-worst home record in Spain’s top flight this campaign, having managed to win just three of their 12 matches at Estadio de Gran Canaria.

Prediction: Las Palmas 1-3 Barcelona

Las Palmas vs Barcelona Prediction & Preview

17th-place Las Palmas go head-to-head with top of the table Barcelona in what is a crucial contest for both sides at opposite ends of the table.

Date: 22/02/2025

Location: Estadio de Gran Canaria

Time: 8pm

When these two sides last met in La Liga back on 30th November, Las Palmas earned a shock 2-1 away win at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys as Sandro Ramirez and Fabio Silva fired in second half goals on either side of Raphinha’s 61st-minute equaliser to earn Los Amarillos a vital win.

This season has been one of struggle for Las Palmas, as they started the campaign off in dismal fashion, earning just two points from their first nine matches before going on an impressive streak of form the moment they sacked Luis Carrion and replaced him with former Granada coach Diego Martinez.

Following Martinez’s appointment, Las Palmas went on a run that saw them accumulate 18 points from their first eight games under his management, before recently slumping to a run of five defeats in their last six matches.

Las Palmas will be solely focussing on La Liga, as they were dumped out of the Copa del Rey via a heavy 4-0 defeat at Elche on 5th January after advancing past Europa (2-1) and Ontinena CF (7-0) in the first two rounds.

Noticeably, Las Palmas do have a host of ex-Premier League players on their books, such as Scott McKenna, Adnan Januzaj, Oli McBurnie and Sandro while having Fabio Silva on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Ex-Everton and Barcelona forward Sandro is their top scorer this campaign with seven goals from 19 matches, level with Fabio Silva who has found the back of the net seven times in 17 games.

Barcelona are level with Real Madrid with 51 points from 24 matches (16 wins, three draws and five losses) and as previously mentioned, are on a very good run of form having won ten and drawn two of their last 12 games.

The visitors have made a habit of solid streaks of form under Hansi Flick, as they managed to win 11 of their first 12 league games under the ex-Bayern Munich manager, before winning just one of their next eight, prior to their current four game winning streak in La Liga.

This campaign looks particularly promising for Barcelona, as they thrashed fierce rivals Real Madrid 5-2 in the final of the Supercopa de España, while finishing second in the Champions League Group Stage with 19 points from eight matches, on top of reaching the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey where they’ll face Atlético Madrid after thrashing the likes of Valencia (5-0), Real Betis (5-1) and Barbastro (4-0).

Robert Lewandowski is currently the top scorer in La Liga with 20 goals in 23 games, however, ex-Leeds United forward Raphinha has arguably been the standout player for the Catalonians this season, as the 28-year-old has registered 24 goals and 15 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.

Form Guide

Las Palmas

Las Palmas have drawn one and suffered four defeats in their last five La Liga matches, with the sole draw being via a 1-1 scoreline against Osasuna on 24th January, where Januzaj fired in a 98th-minute free kick after Oroz Aimar had put the visitors into the lead in the 53rd-minute.

The hosts have suffered defeats at the hands of Mallorca (3-1), Villarreal (2-1), Girona (2-1) and Real Madrid (4-1).

Barcelona

Barcelona have won four and drawn one of their last five matches across all competitions, with their draw coming against Atalanta (2-2) in the Champions League.

Hansi Flick’s side are on a four game winning streak, having earned victories over Deportivo Alaves (1-0), Valencia (5-0), Sevilla (4-1) and Rayo Vallecano (1-0), with Lewandowski firing in the only goal of the game against the latter mentioned opponent.
