Benjamin Sesko Next Club Odds

Any in-form, young striker is always likely to get plenty of attention in the summer transfer window, and Benjamin Šeško is no exception.

The RB Leipzig player has scored 27 goals in 64 appearances in the German Bundesliga so far, adding in 6 goals in the Champions League including two versus Juventus.

Often compared to Halaand, the Slovenian 22 year old is a powerful target man with an impressive burst of pace and the ability to get in behind defences. Unsurprisingly given his goal scoring rate a number of top Premier League clubs have already been vying for his signature.

Latest Odds

The latest Benjamin Sesko next club odds from William Hill are:

Manchester United: 4/6

The last two seasons have seen Rasmus Holjund lead the line for the Red Devils but a return of just 4 goals in 32 Premier League games last season was so disappointing the Danish youngster has apparently found himself on the transfer market for a fee of just £30m.

That Manchester United are willing to take a loss of over £30 million after just two seasons is yet another example of their terrible expenditure in recent years. New owners INEOS have vowed to fix this however, and have already spent big money on two proven Premier League attackers in Mbuemo and Cunha.

With Rashford already gone, Sancho, Garnacho and Antony all part of the wantaway "bomb squad", and Holjund now apparently up for sale, there is a need for further attacking reinforcements and Sesko is an obvious addition.

He has proven goal scoring pedigree at the top level and would provide a good mix of target man alongside free roaming in a front three with Cunha and Mbuemo.

The risk from United's point of view is his relatively low touches in the box and a risk of inconsistency. His high price tag would be affordable if Holjund departs, and Man United remains the obvious destination.

Latest Odds with William Hill: 4/6

Newcastle: 10/11

Surprisingly given their bigger odds, Newcastle are actually a step ahead of Man United in the race for Sesko's signature. They've had a reported bid of £70m rejected, which was apparently rejected for structural reasons as opposed to the price.

With Alexander Isak seemingly trying to force through a move - with Liverpool looking the likely destination - Sesko would be a logical replacement. He has the same ingredients of pace, power and ability to develop into a world class talent and selling Isak would give Newcastle the PSR headroom to at least equal any clubs on transfer and wage demands.

He's young and would fit with Newcastle's approach of buying proven but developable talent (such as Elanga). Even if Isak stays, Newcastle are light on strikers, and it would derisk the Swede leaving in January or next summer, but it's very difficult to see Newcastle making the finances work for such a big transfer without freeing up headroom.

The complications of a linked transactions may give Manchester United an advantage, but Champions League football next season may also give the Magpies an advantage.

Latest Odds with William Hill: 10/11

Chelsea: 20/1

It's a guarantee that every player in the window gets linked to Chelsea. Despite a strike force of Delap, Palmer, Jackson, Nkunku, Neto, Pedro, George and Guiu, Chelsea are 20/1 third favourites.

He'd be fighting directly with Jackson, Pedro & Delap for the same position, so it's very difficult to see Chelsea making the necessary outlay.

Latest odds with William Hill: 20/1

Other Potential Teams

As always, Saudi Arabian teams (all of them...) are linked with Sesko. There's been no strong rumours and reported bids though, and with intense Premier League interest it's hard to see a player as young as 22 going to Saudi Arabia this early in their career.

Liverpool are 25/1 and more likely than Chelsea. Sesko has similar characteristics to Nunez and would fit into their redesigned front line nicely. However, bookmakers expect Isak to move to Liverpool, and it's impossible to see them buying both. If Isak negotiations break down then it wouldn't be beyond the imagination of their transfer department to make a late swoop for Sesko instead...

Arsenal are 28/1, but it's hard to see them being seriously interested having just spent a club record fee of over £55 million for the ex-Sporting Lisbon striker.

PSG are 33/1 and had rumoured interest in previous windows. His profile and strengths are similar to a young Mbappe. However, they already have a selection of young and exciting forwards, and any addition is more likely to add experience rather than potential.

Our Prediction

While the obvious move is to Manchester United 4/6 in a two horse race is a tough price to back a move at. Therefore, our money would go on a Newcastle move at 10/11 - they've had a disappointing transfer window so far by Eddie Howe's own admission and with time running out and a bid rejected already this is an excellent opportunity to provide some positive news before the start of the season.

We'd also consider a small wager on Liverpool at 25/1; transfer spats more difficult than Newcastle have been resolved by teams before, and the latest bookmaker odds suggest an exception that Isak stays at Newcastle if he doesn't move to Liverpool. If that ends up being the case, Sesko would be an excellent fit into the Liverpool squad, and with Jurgen Klopp now working as Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull it would be an easy phone call to make.
