ITV’s action on Friday kicks off with a handicap over seven furlongs. Camera Shy was an eye-catching winner over the same distance at Southwell in mid-March, finishing a head clear after rallying late to beat Anthropologist.
Daniel Muscutt is back aboard this weekend, and there could be more to come after that recent effort saw him get off the mark for the first time on the all-weather.
Next up is a handicap over six furlongs, with Yorkshire Glory chasing a sixth straight win. However, Pit Boss still looks well-handicapped for the in-form Liam Bailey yard.
The four-year-old got a second career win on the all-weather over course and distance last Saturday, and has been running consistently throughout the year, beaten no further than two lengths on his last seven efforts.
One of the most competitive races on the Newcastle card is the 18:30, which is a handicap run over six furlongs. Teardrops looks like an interesting contender for the Richard Spencer team.
The four-year-old is a three-time winner on the all-weather, and was only narrowly denied over course and distance at the start of the month. That was a step back in the right direction, and Jack Callan could eke out further improvement on Friday.
Michael Herrington-trained Badri should be capable of getting involved in the six-furlong handicap due off at 19:00. The nine-year-old was fourth of nine at Wolverhampton at the start of the month, but his best efforts typically come at Newcastle.
Has little to find on Silky Wilkie and Paddy’s Day based on form at the track, and this seven-time winner on the all-weather has a better pull at the weights this weekend.
Daniel Muscutt will be aboard Saytarr in the 19:30 from Newcastle on Friday. The four-year-old has won four from seven attempts on the all-weather, and has been running better than ever so far this year.
Showed his ability over the trip last time when quickly putting two lengths between himself and Tribal Wisdom at Southwell. Has thrived since joining the James Horton stable in January.
The penultimate race on the card is a handicap over seven furlongs. City Captain returns from a lengthy break, but it is always best to catch the Harriet Bethell runner when fresh.
He was a winner on return last year at Pontefract over six furlongs, and has shown ability on the all-weather on all four starts without winning. Is well-handicapped on his best form, and likely to run a big race on return.
ITV’s coverage on Friday rounds off with a five-furlong handicap. Master Of My Fate was an eye-catching fourth of six on his latest effort at Southwell, and he has already won over the five-furlong trip this season, beating Sports Coach by just under a length.
Will relish coming from off the pace on Friday, and the John & Sean Quinn yard is in excellent recent form, striking at 40%.
