13:30 - Chester - Wait Geordie

The ITV coverage of the Boodles May Festival from Chester gets underway on Wednesday, with the action kicking off with the Lily Agnes EBF Conditions Stakes.

Wait Geordie represents the Hugo Palmer stable, and Oisin Murphy is booked to take the ride. The two-year-old made a winning start under rules after winning at Bath last month, and that form looks solid enough on paper. He should come on for that run with improvement likely.

13:45 - Newton Abbot - Centara

Jumps action is also covered on Wednesday, with a handicap chase over two miles and five from Newton Abbot. Centara should be primed for a bold effort on return for the Paul Nicholls stable.

The eight-year-old is a five-time winner over fences, and was a four-time winner at Newton Abbot last summer. The selection enjoys his trips to this course, and could be hard to beat now stepped up in trip.

14:05 - Chester - Percy’s Lad

Next up is a competitive handicap over an extended seven furlongs from Chester. Percy’s Lad was a winner over course and distance in this race 12 months ago, and he should be primed for another bold bid.

Failed to build on his win in this race 12 months ago, and is back below his winning mark from last year. Has the recent advantage of a run under his belt, finishing 13th on return when unsuited by Newmarket.

14:35 - Chester - I’m The One

Clues for the Oaks are on offer in the Listed Cheshire Oaks, won 12 months ago by Minnie Hauk. I’m The One made a striking impression on rules debut last month, easily moving through the gears to land a six-length success over Allaire over a mile and two at Newbury.

That run suggested that she will be suited by stepping up in trip, and hard to overlook the recent form of the John & Thady Gosden team

15:05 - Chester - Benvenuto Cellini

It is the turn of the colts at 15:05, as Derby favorite Benvenuto Cellini heads the betting for the Group Three Chester Vase.

Aidan O’Brien has won this race on a record eleven occasions, including 12 months ago with subsequent Derby winner Lambourn.

The three-year-old by Frankel was impressive when winning the Group Two Champions Juvenile Stakes, before looking unsuited by heavy ground when only third in the Group One Futurity Trophy.

15:40 - Chester - Cherry Baker

ITV’s coverage on Wednesday rounds off with a six-furlong handicap. The James Owen yard is in red-hot form, and Cherry Baker should strip fitter after a disappointing return over an inadequate seven furlongs on return at Newmarket.

Had previously shown her ability over six furlongs when dominating the field at Southwell to win by four lengths. Drop back in trip is a major plus, and Cieren Fallon is once again booked aboard.
