England vs Greece Prediction

Lee Carsley’s England side, most definitely, should have more than enough quality to dispose of a Greece side who are unbeaten in their last three games.

England has kept two consecutive clean sheets in the UEFA Nations League thus far under Lee Carsley. The Three Lions have been in impressive form in competitive matches - having only lost once in their last nine competitive fixtures - the previous defeat was the Euro 2024 final against Spain. England are unbeaten in their last four designated home fixtures, with three wins in their last four.

At Wembley, the Three Lions have lost only once in their previous three. England have also kept two clean sheets in their previous three at Wembley. Eight of the last ten involving England have seen less than 2.5 goals scored in their respective fixtures. England have won seven of the nine meetings against Greece.

We are predicting this game to follow a similar pattern to England’s victory over Finland, with the score remaining the same.

England 2-0 Greece

England vs Greece Preview & Prediction

England resume their Nations League campaign with a home tie against group leaders Greece. Lee Carsley’s men hope to maintain their perfect record facing a Greece side who have scored five goals in this campaign thus far.

Date: 10/10/2024
Location: Wembley Stadium
Kick-Off: 7.45 pm

England have made a solid and progressive start to their UEFA Nations League campaign with two wins from two as Lee Carsley is still under the interim role of the international side. Carsley has rewarded Dominic Solanke and another call-up for Angel Gomes, who retains his spot in the national set-up.

England began their Nations League campaign with a difficult trip to the Republic of Ireland, which heavily showed the spotlight on former Ireland internationals Declan Rice and Jack Grealish. Rice opened the scoring for the Three Lions early on before a wonderfully crafted goal involving Rice and Grealish was duly finished by the Manchester City forward. Carsley was then in charge of his first Wembley outing as England manager, as they recorded another 2-0 win, this time over Finland. That night's attention was solely focused on Harry Kane, who was making his 100th appearance for the national team. Kane was on hand, with a second-half brace to cap off a fine evening for the Bayern Munich striker.

Greece have given themselves a great platform, and the visitors have used their fixtures against lesser opposition in Finland and the Republic of Ireland. Greece began their campaign with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Finland, thanks largely to a brace from Panathinaikos striker Fotis Ioannidis. Greece then travelled to Ireland for their second game, and once again, the group leaders were superb as they ran out 2-0 winners at the Aviva Stadium. Ioannidis scored once again, along with a goal from Christos Tzolis.

This fixture brings some historical significance to English football, as it provided one of David Beckham’s finest moments in an England shirt. Beckham curled an excellent free-kick to secure the point needed for World Cup qualification in the dying moments of the game at Old Trafford.

Where to watch

The game will be shown live on ITV.

Form Guide

England have an impressive record against Greece, having won seven of the nine meetings against the visitors. Greece have only drawn twice in that time, with the last fixture resulting in a 4-0 loss for the visitors away to the Three Lions. England have scored at least twice in the previous three meetings with the visitors.

At Wembley, the Three Lions have lost only once in their previous three. England have also kept two clean sheets in their last three at Wembley. The Three Lions have won five of their previous six competitive fixtures, with their last defeat at Wembley being the 1-0 defeat to Iceland before the European Championships.

Greece have been in terrific form as of late, with three consecutive wins on the board and three consecutive clean sheets also on record. The visiting side have been the first to score in five of their previous six. Despite this, they have shown to be an aggressive side when need be, with more than 4.5 cards occurring.

The visitors are in rather impressive away form coming into this game, having won three of their previous five on their travels. The two remaining games ended in defeat against Germany and Georgia.
