Jack Grealish next club odds

Since his return to the Premier League with Aston Villa, Jack Grealish has impressed fans and pundits with his performances, making him one of the most sought-after players in English football.

Despite Villa's lack of form this season, Grealish’s performances have been magical at times, giving Villa Park something to celebrate from a disappointing season thus far. With nine goals and eight assists in 31 appearances for the Villains, the Englishman has caught the eye of the giants of England, such as Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and, most notably, Manchester United.

As is the case with most young English stars, there is the inevitable link between them and the Red Devils, especially now, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to rebuild the club with youthful, British talent.

England boss Gareth Southgate has also found it tough ignoring the 24-year-old. The English midfielder has given Southgate a difficult decision to make for Euro 2021 next year, as Grealish has thus far outshone the usual candidates, such as Dele Alli.

Should Dean Smith's men be relegated from the Premier League, it will be tough for them to convince Grealish to stay, no matter how much he adores his boyhood club. The pay rise, European football, Premier League football and a chance at the Euro's could be too much to say no.

With that said, let's look at Paddy Power's odds for the midfielder's next club.

Jack Grealish Manchester United odds

As mentioned, it is often the case that each time a player shines against a team of a higher status, that team will develop more of an interest. This was the case for United after the Villa captain put in a performance that stunned Old Trafford. Grealish beat elite shot stopper David De Gea to equalise for his side earlier this season, with his incredible strike further fueling the interest for a possible transfer.

Since then, rumours have been a weekly occurrence, linking Grealish to the 20-times champions, which has, therefore, put United as strong favourites at 4/6.

Before the arrival of Bruno Fernandes, Solskjaer's side have seriously lacked a creative playmaker this season, as Paul Pogba continues to battle injuries. Summer signing Daniel James leads United’s assists chart with six, which says a lot when you consider the Welshman has been out of form for some time.

And, with Paul Pogba's future always uncertain, Solskjaer will surely be seeking a liable replacement for the French midfielder, even with the addition of Fernandes changing the club's fortunes.

The likelihood of Grealish wanting to switch Championship football for the European stage and Solskjaer's desire for young talent makes this transfer a huge potential. United’s odds of 4/6 to get him to put pen to paper might be short, although, this is a good price when all considered.

The London clubs

In previous years, Chelsea have been known to spend obscene amounts of money on players who have impressed, or players who have been given high potential ratings. However, under Frank Lampard, this style of squad development seems to have diminished as players from loan spells have been recalled, whilst youth stars like Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham have blossomed.

Lampard has even stated the importance of giving the younger talents more of an opportunity to prove themselves and develop in the first team, highlighting his strategy to use youth development as the blueprint for success, rather than push the cheques.

This makes the transfer of Grealish to Chelsea a lot less likely than in previous years of managers at Stamford Bridge. However, being just 24 and English, there is no doubt that Lampard has an eye on the Villa star and should the price tag be low enough, maybe a deal could happen.

Elsewhere in London, the usual Spurs stars have been less than impressive this year, with players like Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Lucas Moura not living up to the heights they did last season. Under Jose Mourinho, however, the Lilywhites could attract new talents, as they already have done with former PSV Eindhoven winger, Stevie Bergweijn.

Tottenham were also reportedly in the hunt for the signature of Grealish back in 2018, although the club refused to pay the £30 million price tag given to the then 20-year-old - this seems like a bargain now.

With this figure having potentially doubled since 2018 and considering Spurs' lack of movement in the market since then, it's tough to see this one happening. However, with Christian Eriksen moving on without a replacement and with Mourinho's need to strengthen, there is always a chance it could.

Given this, Paddy Power have priced the odds for a transfer to either of the mentioned London clubs at 10/1.

Outside odds: Manchester City and Leicester City keeping an eye on Grealish

One more exciting talent in a good run of form at the minute is Leicester City’s James Maddison - another reported transfer target for the Red Devils. The 23-year-old England international looks like he could move to Old Trafford, and should that happen, Grealish would be an almost like for like replacement, making odds of 12/1 a decent punt to sign for Leicester.

However, amid the recent speculation of United preferring Grealish, due to his cheaper price tag, it is tough to see how Brendon Rogers’ side prize Grealish away from Villa now.

On the other hand, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are another club reportedly in the hunt for Grealish’s signature this summer. The Premier League champions are no strangers to paying enormous price tags for the players they want and City managers seem to have a blank cheque when it comes to these things.

Plus, with David Silva moving on at the end of the season, Guardiola will surely be on the lookout for another player to join the ranks at the Etihad. In spite of this, City’s midfield still possesses some of the biggest names in football, boasting the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez and the potential replacement for Silva, Phil Foden.

With this considered and how first-team football is never a guarantee at the club, Paddy Power have given City a 14/1 chance of signing Grealish for the coming season.
