Manchester City Multiple Trophy Odds 2021/22

At present, Pep Guardiola’s side are second in the Premier League table following their comprehensive 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on the weekend.

As mentioned above, City will be confident of catching Chelsea in the Premier League following a routine victory at Old Trafford and having already beaten Tuchel’s side at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, City are top of Group A ahead of the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and need just one point to confirm their qualification through to the round of 16, as they are five points ahead of Club Brugge with two games remaining.

The Champions League is the only piece of silverware that City are missing from their trophy cabinet and having been so close last season when they made the final and were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea in Porto, Guardiola will know that his side have the capability to be the Champions of Europe.

As mentioned above, City’s most recent FA Cup win came in 2019 against Watford in the final of the competition, whilst City made the Champions League final last season.

The Citizens have a good record in domestic competitions having won five cup competitions since Guardiola became manager at the start of the 2016/17 season, whilst the Spaniard oversaw City’s best Champions League run in the club’s history last season, beating Manuel Pellegrini’s record of semi-finalists in 2016.

It is well known that the treble is the dream of every fan in football and especially that of a City fan, having watched their neighbours Manchester United do this in 1999, becoming the first and only side to win this unique trio of trophies in the same season.

City showed last season that they have the potential to win three trophies in a season, having won the Premier League and League Cup, as well as falling short in the final of the Champions League, partly down to Guardiola’s first-half tactics, where the Spaniard didn’t play a defensive midfielder, which ultimately saw his team lack balance in the middle of the pitch which Chelsea exploited before putting in a stern defensive display.

City are priced at 3/1 to not win a trophy this season of which there is a realistic chance of this happening despite the quality in their squad, having been knocked out of the League Cup by West Ham United.

The Sky Blues have never won the Champions League which is a competition that seems to persistently elude them and they are currently three points behind Chelsea in the Premier League.

City have won the FA Cup just once since Roberto Mancini won it in 2011, doing so in 2019 as mentioned above, meaning that if they don’t build momentum in the Premier League and falter in either of the cup competitions, then they could finish trophyless for the first time since the 2016/17 campaign.
