Newcastle Specials: Newcastle to win PL 2022/23

Newcastle United's takeover is complete. The club are now going to be looking at the upper echelons of the European continent and the Premier League, and in the future, the days of relegation fights and mid-table slumps are going to be over.

Immediately, winning the Premier League won't be in their minds. The form of clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City are no doubt going to continue, while it seems we may not have seen the very best from Manchester United, and as a result, winning the division likely won't happen in 2022/23.

Nevertheless, one transfer window can change everything, and a few decent players can get them back towards the top end. To actually win the league, however, they're going to need a few windows under their belt and a bit of form, hence the odds of 66/1 for odds of Newcastle winning the Premier League.

Newcastle Specials: PL Top 4 finish 22/23

Whilst winning the league title is extremely unlikely so early on into the ownership of the Saudi-backed group, getting into the top four is a little different. The likes of Chelsea and City got straight into top four battles when they were taken over in their own regard, and it took both of them less them three years to win the title and become regulars in the Champions League spots.

Newcastle, on the other hand, may not have it so easy within their first full season under their ownership as times are quite different right now. Financial Fair Play (FFP) has come down with a vengeance on clubs like Chelsea in recent times, so just buying who they please with a blank cheque is not going to be as easy as it once was.

Furthermore, we even live in a period right now when the likes of Spurs and Arsenal can't get into the top four and clubs like Leicester City seem to challenge for these spots more so. This doesn't, of course, mean the Magpies can't get in eventually, and perhaps on the other hand, the likes of Leicester getting in there is more of a sign they will do eventually.

At 8/1, it's hard to see them doing so that quickly but one strong summer window of transfers and a decent January too may just change everything.

Newcastle Specials: Newcastle to win EFL Cup 2022/23

Newcastle have not won a major trophy since 1955, putting their history into question and their overall stance as a big club in doubt. The likes of Everton, Leicester and even teams like Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest have all had some success in this time, and you even have to go back to 1927 for the last time that the Magpies won the top flight league title.

Starting off with the EFL Cup as a central point to catapult the club towards further success, however, is the brightest idea out there. Of course, they are not going to lay down all their tools just to focus on the EFL Cup, but with top four and winning the Premier League a little more unlikely until a few more windows are under their belt, challenging for the League Cup should be their priority.

This will mean Newcastle need to get right into things within the transfer market, however. The likes of Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin are perhaps the only two players right now who can keep a spot in the team moving forward, and they are going to need plenty more of these type of players if they are to have success in the EFL Cup.

The North East outfit have never won the League Cup, and you have to go back to 1975/76 to see the last time they got to the final here.

Newcastle Specials: Newcastle to win FA Cup

Similarly to challenging the EFL Cup next season, heading for success in the FA Cup makes total sense as well.

The FA Cup was actually the last trophy the club won back in 1955 and there hasn't been any success ever since, with runners-up medals coming in 1973–74, 1997–98 and 1998–99 for the Magpies.

Like City, Newcastle must win a domestic trophy within the first few years of the takeover simply just to establish themselves as a threat for the future. Indeed it took City just two years to win the FA Cup following their takeover, before the league title came a season later.

Newcastle should follow this blueprint, and at odds of 14/1 to win the FA Cup next campaign, it's worth noting.
