Plymouth v Burton: Plymouth to win and BTTS

After a great start to the season, Plymouth entertain Burton at Home Park this weekend as they continue in their hunt for promotion. Argyle sit in third spot of England’s third tier after 11 games, just two points off Wigan and Sunderland in first and second respectively.

Ryan Lowe’s men go into the weekend unbeaten in their last six League One fixtures, following the 2-2 draw away to Lincoln last time out. With Sunderland and Wigan not in action this weekend, a win could send the Pilgrims top of League One. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will be hoping his Burton side can find a result away to Plymouth, after a draw last Saturday away at AFC Wimbledon.

The result came after a 2-1 win at home to Portsmouth, which followed the loss away to Lincoln City. It shows the Brewers’ inconsistent form over recent weeks, with one win in their last five league games and there could be even more misery at Home Park this weekend.

Sheffield Wed v Bolton: Bolton to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1

Bolton Wanderers travel to Hillsborough this weekend as two teams that have an eye on promotion lock horns. After relegation from the Championship last season, Sheffield Wednesday would have been dreaming of bouncing straight back up to the second tier and gaining promotion from League One at the first time of asking.

They haven’t started particularly well in that regard though, sitting 12th after 10 games with just one win in their last five. Darren Moore’s men got a great away win at Wigan Athletic last Tuesday, but that was followed by a defeat at home to Oxford United in their last league tie on Saturday.

As for the visitors, Bolton sit seventh after 11 games, with one eye on one of those top six spots. The Trotters have won three of their last five in League One and are on a run of three straight wins in all competitions. Ian Evatt’s men cruised past Liverpool’s U23s in the EFL Trophy in midweek after seeing off Shrewsbury and Charlton in last week.

Ipswich v Shrewsbury: Bonne to score and wn

Ipswich welcome Shrewsbury to Portman Road on Saturday, with both teams looking for a win that could give them a boost near the bottom of the table. The hosts are 19th heading into the weekend’s tie with 10 points from 11 games and they were beaten last Saturday at Accrington Stanley after thrashing Doncaster 6-0 the Tuesday prior.

Macauley Bonne has been in fine form this season for the Tractor Boys, firing in eight goals in nine league appearances so far and you wouldn’t put it past him adding more against Shrewsbury.

The visitors could do with a much-needed win, sitting in the relegation zone in 23rd, despite being only two points off Saturday’s opponents. The Shrews have lost two league games in a row after losing 2-1 away at Bolton last weekend.

Wycombe v Gillingham: Wycombe to win and over 2.5 goals

The other of the four fixtures in League One sees Wycombe and Gillingham meet at Adams Park and Wycombe are another of the sides that will be doing their best to bounce straight back into the Championship following their relegation last season and have started their League One campaign off well in the early stages.

Gareth Ainsworth’s men are fifth in the league table, two points off the top two. With many of the promotion hopefuls not in action over the weekend, it’s a chance for the Buckinghamshire outfit to climb a few places and add a bit of pressure on their rivals.

The newly-relegated side have won three of their last five, winning their last two consecutive league games. They're the clear favourites to get another win against a Gillingham side have won just once in their last five, and we think they'll do so with over 2.5 goals.
