Blackpool to win and both teams to score vs Gillingham

Two teams in good form meet at Bloomfield Road in Monday night’s feast of action, when a high-flying Blackpool entertain Gillingham in what looks an exciting clash between two League One promotion hopefuls. The Tangerines have been a strong force in League One recently, going unbeaten in their last 12 league games and winning seven. Some of those victories have been against a few of the top teams in the English third tier in the form of Peterborough United, Portsmouth, and Charlton Athletic and their win on Good Friday over Swindon took them to sixth, a point clear in a play-off place.

Gillingham are in a good vein of form themselves, unbeaten in their last five league games in which they’ve won three. It leaves the Gills two points adrift of their opponents on Monday, with the chance to leapfrog them with a win. Whilst Steve Evans’ side have done well in recent weeks, Blackpool look too hot to handle at the minute and if the likes of Sullay Kaikai and Jerry Yates are on fire again, Neil Critchley’s men are in with a huge chance of claiming three points.

The odds are 7/2 for Blackpool to win and both teams to get on the scoresheet.

Peterborough and Sunderland both to score and over 2.5 goals

There’s another crucial clash between two of the top teams looking for promotion from League One, when Peterborough and Sunderland lock horns. It's second vs third, with both sides on the tail of league leaders, Hull City. The home side go into Monday’s crunch tie after edging out Fleetwood on Friday, with the 1-0 win making it back-to-back wins for the Posh.

Darren Ferguson’s side have won three of their last five, having been winless in three league games before that. They’re a point behind the table-toppers heading into Easter Monday with a game in hand. A win over third-placed Sunderland would stretch the gap between them to five points, albeit with Sunderland having played a game less.

The Black Cats have been ruthless in recent times, winning six of their last seven league games. Lee Johnson’s side can move up the table into second, possibly first depending on how Hull get on, taking them closer to finally earning promotion from the third tier.

Sunderland have been on fire in front of goal, scoring nine goals in their last five league games. With two of the best sides in the league and plenty of attacking prowess on show, a high-scoring contest looks likely to be on the cards. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals has a price of 13/8.

Portsmouth to win and both teams to score vs Wigan

Portsmouth welcome Wigan Athletic to Fratton Park on Monday in a game that could have big implications on the play-offs and relegation places. The hosts have had a perfect start under new boss Danny Cowley, winning all three of their games with the former Lincoln City and Huddersfield Town boss in charge.

The three consecutive league victories have taken Pompey up to fifth and into a play-off place and two points clear of seventh-placed Charlton.

They’ll want to keep their run going against Wigan and keep in with a chance of prometon via the play-offs. Despite the jubilation following the news of the takeover at Wigan, they’re still in trouble at the bottom of League One. Latics are winless in their last four league games, losing twice, including last time out away at Gillingham. It leaves Leam Richardson’s men third from bottom in the league, two points from safety.

Portsmouth have won their last three games with both teams getting on the scoresheet and interestingly, all three have ended 2-1. The odds are 11/4 for the same to happen again on Monday against Wigan.

Bolton to win v Newport

Another clash between two promotion hopefuls sees seventh-placed Newport host an in-form Bolton Wanderers at Rodney Parade. The Trotters have been in terrific form, unbeaten in their last 14 league games. In that time, they’ve won 11, putting them right in the race for the automatic promotion spaces and even the League One title. Ian Evatt’s side are four pints behind second-placed Cheltenham and six behind league leaders Cambridge and a win on Monday could see them close that gap.

Newport also have an eye on a potential promotion, looking to keep themselves in a play-off place. Michael Flynn’s side are seventh, with one point separating them from Exeter below them outside the play-off places. County have struggled lately though, losing their last three league games and ith Bolton in such good form and Newport on a bad run, the visitors look likely to take all three points.

The odds are 6/5 for another Bolton win.

Paul Mullin to score and win vs Tranmere

Top of the league Cambridge look to keep their place at the summit when they travel to Tranmere, who themselves are trying to keep up at the top. Tranmere are fourth in the league, despite going three games without a win, after being destroyed by Cheltenham 4-0 on Friday.

Keith Hill’s men have only won one of their last five league games and could be in danger of falling down the table on Monday, with Forest Green and Morecambe just one point behind.

The hosts come up against the league leaders who have won their last four league games, stretching their lead at the top. One of the key players in that run has been star striker Paul Mullin, who is the league’s top scorer with 27 goals in 39 games this campaign. The 26-year-old bagged a brace in the 2-1 over Morecambe last time out. Mullin is 13/5 with Skybet to score and win.
