Who Holds the Record for Most Headed Goals?

It comes as no surprise to anyone that Peter Crouch tops the list for the most headed goals in Premier League history, netting with his head 53 times for the multitude of clubs he appeared for in his 18 years in the Premier League.

Crouch’s headed goals amounted for nearly half of all his goals in the league, with him ending up with 108 goals when he ended his playing career in 2019, seeing headed goals amounting for 49% of his goals in the Premier League.

When he finished his illustrious Premier League career, Alan Shearer was the player with the most headed goals in the league history, but after Crouch conquered his record in 2015, Shearer moved to second on the list, where he still stands, but seven goals below Crouch’s record with 46 headed goals.

Last Season’s Statistics

Five teams scored over ten-headed goals in the Premier League last season, with the top three placed teams taking up the top three spots for most headed goals, with Liverpool scoring the most with 16, Manchester City the second most with 15 and Chelsea in third-place with 12 headed goals.

Who to Look Out for Next Season

Moving into next season, the best players to bet on scoring the most headers come from Manchester City and Liverpool, as not only do they create the most chances in the league, but they are also the two teams that cross the most in the league, giving their players more chances to score headers.

This means that both of their new strikers' will have a great opportunity to score the most goals with their heads, with Darwin Nunez’s heading ability already very accomplished at a young age, scoring six headed goals last season, whilst Erling Haaland managed four goals with his head last season for Borussia Dortmund.

Another player to look at for this is Cristiano Ronaldo, who under Erik ten Hag’s management should be in a better-organised system, which could allow him to get more scoring opportunities this season, and his heading ability is one of the best in the world and with more chances, he could score a lot more goals with his head.
